It seems like it jumped up another ten cents last night. I drove through some Midwestern states today and it was at $3.89.

Average price I guess they count stations down near St Louis.

There aren't any stations in the city of Chicago under $4.50 that I've seen for over a week now.

Chicago has second highest gas prices

Chicago doesn't have the highest gas prices in the country, but we're pretty close -- we're No. 2.

The latest Lundberg Survey of fuel prices shows the average price for a gallon of regular gas in Chicago is at $4.11.

San Francisco is No. 1 at $4.13 a gallon.

The national average is $3.76.

That's a 19-cent jump over the past three weeks.

Lundberg notes that demand is dropping as prices rise.

Prices went up another 30 cents since Friday

Plainfield is pretty far out from the city of Chicago

Don Hillebrand, director of Argonne National Laboratory's Center for Transportation Research, noted he recently paid $4.40 a gallon for gas in Plainfield and $5 really isn't that far away.

With oil prices at $120 a barrel, “that means there's no sense to the market — speculation has kicked in”

Every day, Shell e-mails service stations with the latest fuel prices, said Kyle Murphy, manager at Grandt's Shell in Arlington Heights. “Historically, right around Memorial Day they raise the price.”

Now with average sales between $60 and $75, “we have to watch our pumps a lot closer,” Murphy said. “If someone gets away with one tank of gas, that's our (fuel) profit for the entire day.”

Interesting... just found this in the same article.

Could drivers end up paying $5 a gallon for regular?

“It's speculation, but I don't think they will,” Illinois Petroleum Marketers Association Executive Vice President Bill Fleischli said. “I don't think it will go up to $5, but there's not any relief in sight.

Costs for a gallon of regular were $4.03 on average Thursday compared to $3.08 a year ago, AAA reported.

Also from the same article

The latest Lundberg survey, which tabulates prices at thousands of gas stations nationwide, took place on Friday. Of the cities surveyed that day, the lowest average price was in Tucson, Arizona, at $3.41. The highest average price was in the San Francisco Bay area at $4.13.
Here are the average prices in some other cities:
-- Chicago - $4.11
-- Seattle - $3.85
-- Boston - $3.71
-- Houston - $3.67
-- Atlanta - $3.61
-- Memphis, Tennessee - $3.56
-- Denver - $3.49

Gas prices in 'firing range' of all-time high

Gas prices have jumped nearly 20 cents over the past two weeks, approaching the all-time high

That means prices are now just 35 cents -- "within firing range" -- of the all-time high of $4.11 set in July 2008

--------------------------------------------
Obviously Chicago along with San Fran have gone way beyond this "all time high".

All of these articles have not taken into account the rise in prices stations did over the weekend.

You prove yourself a troll by linking an article disputing your price claims _in the same post_.

Gas is up 3 cents in Chicago this weekend. You're trolling/lying again.

I do think you are not delusional but rather just good old fashioned trolling.

Oil near $113 amid Mideast turmoil, weak US dollar

Oil prices hovered at a 30-month high near $113 a barrel Monday in Asia as traders eyed fresh Middle East tension and a wobbly U.S. dollar.

Benchmark crude for May delivery was up 6 cents at $112.85 a barrel at midday Singapore time in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

On Friday, the contract jumped $2.49 to $112.79, the highest since September 2008.

Oil prices have soared 33 percent since mid-February as traders worry political violence in the Middle East and North Africa could disrupt crude supplies.

Investors are also watching closely the currency markets as the U.S. dollar fell to a 15-month low against the euro last week. A weaker U.S. currency makes dollar-based commodities such as oil cheaper for investors with other currencies.

Just for giggles I called and talked to our Microsoft Licensing Rep that lives in Chicago just now. She lives in Lakeview East and said the station closest to her was $4.17 this morning. More importantly I told her she needs to bring me a pie from Gino's when she comes into town next week.

Station closest to me was $3.49 for 91 when I filled up on the way in this morning. Of course it is a Shell and is always a bit higher.

Meanwhile Obama has his head stuck in the ground (Up his ass?) and the best he can come up with is raising taxes on the rich. That will fix it!
