It's no wonder the rental industry is going under, people like that just add to the fire. I went to blockbuster today to buy Batman (they had it on special for cheap and I got an even better deal prior to that with putting a deposit down for it months ago).

This crazy ugly mother fucker at the counter tells me I have 6 dollars in previous restocking fee's, and add's it on top of my purchuse of Batman. First off it's not me who had the restocking fee's, it was my mom because she is linked to my account. Second I am not renting anything, I am making a retail purchuse of a movie, that has nothing to do with my fee's on my account, you don't even need an account to make a purchuse, anyone can walk in and buy it.

So anyways, I tell the guy, that's my moms fee and she will pay it when she rents a movie next time, becuase I don't rent movies since the last couple of years. I also tell him it has nothing to do with me buying Batman, it's a retail purchuse, you can't con people into putting down deposits for the movie and then demand fee's on top of it. This guy is still being a total ass telling me I have to pay, finally I am like "I would like to use my pay it next time I am here pass", so he looks at me and tells me he is going to put a warning on my account saying if I don't pay it next time I can't do anything. I said fine, I don't do anything anyways but purchuse a retail movie from time to time, so it doesn't matter, and if my mom chooses to rent here again (she won't, Ill make sure of that given the guys attitude today), she will pay it.

I am going to send in a letter of complaint against him saying he hassles customers and unrightfully tries to con them fees on retail purchuses which is against the law. I never do stuff like this, but today was the wrong day to piss me off, especially by some ugly teenage fucker that shouldn't give a shit.

Man this guy was ugly, picture a huge head, barely balancing itself...that's him.

/waits for the usuall ATOT flamers to flame me (because I'm wrong and crazy right?) haha you fools

UPDATE:

Went to blockbuster again today because my mom needed to rent a movie for the kids. The guy that hassled me was not there today, but the manager was. Spoke with the manager, told him what happened yesterday, how the guy tried to use my deposit against me on the movie. Manager looked up my blockbuster account, said I was a great customer with a good record, said he was sorry about the employee (said he is going to speak with him and take care of the matter because I was right and it should not be used for retail purchases) and erased the 6 bucks of fee's on the account, also gave me a free movie rental.

Well, well, well flamers of ATOT, looks like I was indeed in the right, God you must feel stupid

Although I have contradicted myself in saying I will make sure my mom never goes to blockbuster again, I don't think she will after today, and I certainly won't, I'll stick with my bandwidth usage per month

Just talk to the store manager or district manager. The stores I go to have both numbers posted.

Who is dweebier; the clerk who hassles a customer, or the customer who rushes home to tell the internet about it?

Why did you even tell the guy you had an account if you were simply making a retail purchase?

Edit: That's what you get for putting a deposit down.

Edit2: Using the deposit you put down requires you using your account. Using your account requires taking care of the late fees. Therefore, the guy was just following policy. You could've told him to not bother with the deposit and ignored the whole issue.

It's not the point, the point is that he was using that as leverage for a retail purchuse which has nothing to do with rentals, he was threatening me and charging me 6 bucks more for my movie purchuse. Ya I could walk out of there, and I could also lose my $ 5 deposit, not cool.

So, let me get this straight: you owe a company money, then get pissed when they try to get it from you while you're at their store? The fact that your mom returned a movie late means absolutely nothing - it's on your account and you're responsible (or, in this case, irresponsible) for it.

Yep, sounds like the real dweeb is the OP. The guy at the store was correct.

I disagree. If he was renting a movie, then I'd see the point. He was buying a retail item, and the only reason they knew he had a balance was because he paid a deposit for the Dark Knight(which is linked to his account).

He should only have to pay the balance the next time he rents a movie IMO.

Yeah, that's the way I look at it was well.

I'd be interested in the law OP thinks Blockbuster is violating. I'd assume it's related to bogus fees and does not include legitimate debts that are owed to a retailer.

LMAO! That's Blockbuster Corporate policy. Send in your letter and he will get a pat on the back from the boss.

I'd have paid it. Left. Then I would have socked him in the face and blatantly stolen a box of candy the next time I came in on his shift. Even open it up and eat some pointing and laughing at him like he's a funny scene in a movie. Gangsta style.

Fail. You owe them $$, they don't care whether you're Renting/Retailing, they don't care if your Mother is at fault, you Pay the Bill and get your Movie.

Correct and he was trying to use that deposit in his account. If anything, that deposit should have been applied to the restocking fee and he's still owe a $1. Doesn't matter if he's buying or renting, he's using the same account.

Blockbuster doesn't give a shit who incurred the fee, you let someone use your account you are responsible. It is your job to get the money from your mom not theirs. And if you use your account to make a deposit then you are in fact using an account with them and not just making a retail purchase.

This. OP is a dumbass. Just pay the $6 and get it back from your mother later. Or pay the $6 and let your mom slide. Blockbuster doesn't care who rented the movies, they're on the OP's account.
