Got hit by a truck

Going to work today with carpool, sitting in back passenger seat of an '09 Accord. A few cars in front of us slammed on their brakes, could not see why. Car in front of us swerved off the road to avoid hitting the car in front of him. Our driver hit the brakes, did not make contact with the car in front of us. A big rig 18-wheel flatbed truck behind us could not stop in time and just plowed right into our car. I felt like I got hit with a 2x4 on the top of my neck. I feel okay now, but jeez, that was quite an impact.

Ouch. Just a warning (I've been through something similar), your neck/shoulders/back will hurt way worse tomorrow than they do right now. Don't be surprised if you end up taking tomorrow off. Hope you feel better.

Sister and MIL have recently been hit by big rigs that were following too closely in city traffic. The guy that hit my sister was driving a dump truck, was here illegally (Mexican), had no CDL and no insurance. Sister's insurance co had to sue the trucking co to get anything from them, never could track down the driver after the initial arrest-release, he skipped town.

I never understood why people feel the need to be as close to the car in front of them as possible. They're not going to get where they're going any faster and it causes a lot of accidents.

I hate when trucks and shit are on my ass. I mean wtf.

I also hate when you cant see cars in front of you since your behind a SUV or similar, then they sling out of the lane to avoid the accident, and you end up getting a nice surprise. I always leave plenty of following distance. But the feeling of omg stop stop dont hit.. you know?

My neck does hurt some, although it's gotten better than it was before. I do have a pounding headache that is driving me nuts. If I feel I need a doc tomorrow, I'll go then.
