She spun 180 and slid into a dirt embankment/shallow ditch and ruined her passenger fender, front bumper cover, passenger headlight and right front rim.

However, black duct tape fixes all on a black car.

I would be really amazed if the G6 did not come with standard ABS

I wasn't going fast (under the posted speed limit) but when I tapped on the brakes during the curve, my wheels locked up. I skidded across the opposite lane of travel (fortunately no cars were oncoming), went down into a small ditch and struck a tree.

Anyways, GF came and picked me up and took me to the hospital after the police report was made and tow came. I'm doing fine and not even that sore. Back's just a little stiff and my left shin is bruised slightly. I was wearing my seat-belt. Now I get to deal with getting the car fixed/insurance company. Good times....

Just glad I didn't get hurt and that I was the only one involved in the accident. It's definitely not an experience I want to be in again any time soon.

And since I know it will be asked: pic of GF and I

You will be, probably starting tomorrow.

Glad you're okay, though.

Thanks.

I don't think I'll be that sore though. I was still in work clothes (had a vest with padding on) so I think that helped take some of the force. It's just been another normal day so far today, minus a car.

Wait...what? Telling yourself to fuck off?

Anyhow, any accident you can walk away from is relatively good, glad you're ok.

Yep and the OP was probably braking the law. Either his tires were worn down a lot which is illegal or he was going too fast for the conditions which is illegal as well. Either way the OP is to fault.

A guy hit me on the interstate on Monday. His insurance company refuses to call me back (he has Geico).

Police reports clearly shows he was at fault because he hit me from behind when I was stopped in traffic.

3 months ago a lady backed into me in a parking lot. The police refused to determine fault (private property), and we had the same insurance carrier. Thus, we both had to make a claim on our own policy.

2 months ago I scraped the side of a car (my fault, admitted it to police)

I can only imagine how much my insurance is going to go up. I'd be fine if it goes up because of the at-fault accident I had, but the other two are bullshit. One was because fault could not be determined and the other was clearly the other driver's fault. I hope Geico decides to call me back sometime this year.

What's sad is that I had not had an accident in over 5 years (last one was not my fault either -- a guy hit me but he was uninsured) but I had to pay a surcharge for that damn uninsured driver.

I wish you luck.

Wow, you could have killed someone with a head on collison. Listen, you brake before the turn, not during, then accelerate out of it.

Since it has already started in this thread...

You break the law.

The car has brakes.

LOL. I'm pretty sure the OP knows this... the tree that he hit certainly isn't at fault.

No, actually, it's completely the tree's fault. Whoever put it there was completely irresponsible. Seriously, who puts a tree on a side of the road after a small ditch? What are they thinking???? If anything, I should sue whoever put the tree there. I'd make a fortune!

Of course it's my fault. Never claimed it wasn't. I was obviously going a little too fast for the road conditions, but not speeding. Tried fixing it, but just had an idiot moment and hit the brakes during the curve. I'm only human.

Try 25 turning 26 next month.

Like I said, moment of stupidity.... It's funny with all the "bad driving" comments, because I'm behind the wheel for work pretty much the entire day, and drive what people would consider to be much more "dangerously" at times (depending if I have to respond to an emergency situation or not). I just had one slip-up and suddenly I shouldn't be behind the wheel or I'm 18.

Good that you are ok, but doing what you did made your crash inevitable. Brake before the turn, then accelerate into the curve as was mentioned before. You need to get in the right habit, because the next time you may not be so lucky. It doesn't matter how fast you go.

Just in case you didnt hear it yet .
