As far as the facts of the case goes, I hope the DA exercises some discretion and hits the guy with a wet reckless or something along those lines. I don't think a standard deuce is called for here.

We don't have wet reckless here. The prosecutor might plea it down to a reckless - I don't know.

He was on the side of the road with the lights on. The car was not legally parked, so I don't think the argument of "he was just taking a nap to sober up" will hold much water, especially since it hadn't been there all night. He would've had to sleep 'till lunchtime before he was sober enough to drive.

I'm gonna get a pig...and I'm...I'm gonna have the pig fuck you.
I want the pig to vomit in your face and I want you to swallow the vomit.

I want the pig to die while...while you're fucking him.
Then you'll have to go behind him.
I want you to smell the dying farts of the pig.

Not that I have anything against jlee, I just wanted to get in on the fun.

Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.
I have to have a class A license for my job. My employer has a 2 part policy on DUI.
1. If I get a DUI and don't tell them the next working day, I get fired and have no reinstatement rights when I get my license back.

2. If I get a DUI and tell them the next working day, I get fired and have reinstatement rights when I get my license back.

What do you think about the large number of people on the road whose driving ability/skill even while sober is scarcely better than a drunk to begin with?

I am a HUGE proponent of stricter drivers licensing requirements and testing. As far as I'm concerned, a dog could get a drivers license in the US and be allowed to drive (as long it isn't drunk or speeding). Most drivers on the road are IMO so poorly skilled in basic driving technique and so poorly educated in the basic rules of the road as to be guilty of criminal negligence just by looking at a car.
But it's okay... they wear their seatbelt, don't drive drunk, and drive below the speed limit in the left lane, so who cares that they haven't used their turn signals in over a year, spend most of their phone time behind the wheel, and routinely blow red lights/stop signs? They're safe drivers and they know it!

OOOOOH, SO YOU START CRYING ABOUT PERSONAL ATTACKS, AND THEN YOU SAY THAT? You're a piece of work....and probably a drunk.

What's the difference between my personal attack and you insulting me by saying that I must have had a DUI just because you don't like my argument about DUI laws?

Having no logic to counter my arguments, you turned immediately to personal attacks. Having no respect for you, I told you to go fuck your mother.

save us Vic! save us from out jack-booted oppressors!

/swoon

Next up, Mickey will save us from murderers by making it the same crime as murder just to think that someone else might be better off dead. Crime of intent!!

I'm not trying to save anyone here, buddy. You are. That's the problem. Lighten up and quit trying to do unto others before they get the chance to do unto you. Or at the very least stop abusing our govt pushing that agenda.

You should take the advice from your own sig. My "personal attack" against you was just a direct retort of the logical fallacy you used against me in the first place.
Believe it or not, it is possible to question certain aspects of the law (and the manner in which the law is enforced) without being a criminal.

Thanks for finally deciding to fill us in with the rest of the details. As it now sounds like you had more than sufficient probable cause to determine that he must have driven drunk to that location, then I've no issue with it. Good job.

there's a list?

FAIL!!!!!!!! READ THE FUCKING THREAD OF COURSE THERE IS A LIST

HAHAHAHAHAHA I love when people come in and don't read every single post in a thread before replying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ADDED!!!!
mcveigh
Azraele
XZeroII
PELarson
Hacp
Inferno0032
JPS35
dartworth
DannyLove
Nik

-------------------

You people bashing other posters that come in and reprimand JLee without reading every single post are just as bad yourselves.
You expect everyone to read every single reply in all threads before replying? I am sure majority of people here reply to majority of the threads they reply in without reading all of the other posts.

Nowhere in the title does it even hint that he is a cop.
It is commonly accepted that "getting" a DUI is being arrested/charged with one.
If you tell an employer during an interviewer that you have "gotten" four DUIs in your life, no one would defend you if you didn't get the job because of the misinterpretation.
Nowhere in the body of the message does it hint at him being a cop
He posted a picture of a cop car. Great? It's not like the license says "JLee roooolzz" or something, where we would know what that cop car picture meant. When I got robbed while delivering pizza, I posted a picture of a cop car. It was the cop car that helped me out. If we are assuming he actually got charged with DUI, we might assume that that cop car is the one that arrested him?
Unless I missed something, JLee doesn't even hint that he is a cop until the fourth? page? I could understand you guys laughing so hard if maybe he said it his 2nd or 3rd post/1st page, but no, not even close

You guys are seriously not that cool/mighty because you happened to know he was a cop/read a lot before posting

get over it

you don't have to read every page to figure it out...it seems pretty apparent on the very first page.

Everyone knows that JLee is a cop. Do you want a place on the fail list? I can make room.

If you couldn't fill in the blanks from post #6, then you need to be added to the list.

I understand... this guy was on the side of the road in a no parking zone.

But if you are drunk, decide you can't drive, and decide to sleep it off in your car.... in my opinion you are doing the right thing. A DUI when drunk parked in a parking lot, is just ridiculous. Even a public intoxication (just because you hid the keys) is stupid too.
We should be telling people to sleep it off.

What if someone has a breathalyzer ignition interlock and you find them sleeping in their car? Do you still give them another DUI? There was no way they could drive until under the legal limit, correct?

This person was under 21. Just being intoxicated, PERIOD, is an offense. Are you talking about this case, or are you using this as a tangent to your own personal opinion of what laws should or should not be?
