Of course, that's his opinion. He could be wrong.

Well, all the reviews for BOTH games seem to back that up 100% Hell, even on these forums it's apparent:

UNREAL 2 - Utter and complete crap!

I like UT more than HL, yet there are a ton of people I know who are just the opposite. I could give a hoot. (Btw, I think U2 is great, but again that's just me).

Besides, does anyone really care what Ebert and Roeper's opinions are on how good a movie is? I experience movies and games before I ask the opinion of someone else. That's just me though.

If it's just ebert and roeper, I could care less...but if it's ebert, roeper, jack, jill, frank, bob, david, spence, susie, john, andrew, lester, nancy, elizabeth, joseph, and mary...I might actually stop to pause.

In other news, 5800 Ultra is "blah," moving on over to Radeon 9800 Pro and NV35...heck 9700 Pro for that matter

now I wish both ATI and nVidia would just slow down and start doing 12 month product cycles,
I wouldn't as we need that speed and more.

the speed jumps are just getting too big, I want programers to catch up and actually use the power the cards bought last year have
Try running UT2003 or Unreal 2 at 1600 x 1200 on every map and let me know if the developers need to catch up. And Doom3 is only going to make things even more demanding.

true, but these 6month product cycles are just eating my money away (not realy since I upgraded from a Matrox G400 to a Radeon 9700 pro last year)

but there is also this issue, lately there have been so many games being released that have crappy gameplay and awsome graphics, if developers dont have to worry so much having stellar graphics because they have to create it from scratch each time inventing new ways to do stuff then they could focus more on gameplay.

I know what you're saying and this is one of the reasons why I'm going to skip the 9800 Pro and keep my 9700 Pro.

However it's good to always have the option of getting something faster as there's nothing worse than needing to upgrade and finding that you can't go anywhere.

Also the 6 month product cycle encourages developers to push the 3D bar higher and faster which means that games are no longer crippled to support obsolete video cards. I personally am sick of 3D engines being crippled so that Joe Average can run them on his integrated video card.

Did you play it, or did you base your comment off of the reviews?

saw that you edited yourself, saying before that you thought that UT was better than HL

I was the same way never quite understood the infactuation of that game by one of my best friends. Another friend and I always thought that UT was way better, couldnt even stand to look at HL after play UT actually without falling asleep.

I play Falcon 4.0 SP3, Il-2 Sturmovik, and BF1942. I don't have time to play more than that really

Unreal 2003 -- Pretty graphics, mindless shooting
Unreal 2 -- piss poor game
GTA3 - haven't tried it before

Nevermind, the posted link answered the question.

It still says that. And I still feel that way.

Opps, my bad, looked at wrong post

See were not crazy its everyone else

Actually a few weeks ago I installed UT when I was board and boy it looks like crap after playing these newer games, immediatly uninstalled, cant even imagine how HL would seem.

For right now im sticking to RTCW and UT 2003 demo (to cheap to buy full thing) for online FPS games

UT is a multiplayer shooter.
HL was a single player interactive masterpiece of a game.

Can't really compare the two

Whatever, Counterstrike than played both and neither of them did anything for me

I need atleast 4 pci's and my mobo (ASUS A7V266-EX) has only 5 pci-slots.....maybe i'll go with Radeon 9700Pro when Ati's new cards come out and the "older ones" get a little cheaper...=)

The Leadtek Geforce 5800FX Ultra only takes up one pci slot!!!!

I definatly agree with those that think the 9700pro is supirior. Even if the fx had better performance, as if you would need it to be better, i still wouldent get one. That much noise is crazy, you can run a radion 9700pro compleatly silent with the zalman zm80-hpA. Mabe it is just me but if i wanted to hear jet engines id move to an airport.

The Leadtek Geforce FX5800 Ultra noise is a lot lower. The noise is moderate. Plus the Leadtek Geforce FX5800 Ultra does not take up any pci slots!

Actually, there were some pics posted of the Leadtek mounted in an AGP slot, and it looks like it will still take up the 2nd PCI slot. The card doesn't take up a 2nd backplate, but its profile clearly extended into PCI slot 1's plane. Still a non-issue IMO, as PCI slot 1 should be left empty for numerous reasons. And those of you with 64-bit/66MHz PCI slot 1's, I don't wanna hear it.

Some of the children here with expectations of Unreal II being the gaming second coming of Christ were bound to be disappointed.

It's a GOOD game - no worse than the original Unreal (which was ALSO "pretty" graphics and kind of "silly" even for FPS.

And the STORY - dealing with "guilt", "sacrifice" and "redemption" IS a bit hokey BUT still too much for some of the kiddies here . . . :Q

ANd to the person who said to "stop raining on the [topic poster's] parade" - he PUBLICALLY posted it and should expect COMMENTS.

That said (biting my tounge and holding back derisive comments); congrats on being able to actually buy a FX ultra-Dustbuster!

That is how I feel about U2, nothing groundbreaking but still pretty decent. Kinda like my opinion on my FX Ultra. After doing some gaming tonight, I have to say that I"m very happy with the card, and still wouldn't buy a 9700pro.
