Play F.E.A.R. on the Dell 30" display (2560x1600) with 16xAA and 16xAF and watch a wonderfully dark slideshow.

yea im happy with the way things look now. i just wanted to know if its like wow! that looks way better. For example going from 1024x768 to 1280x1080 looks way better. I dont really want a widescreen or anthing like that. Is there anything else i can do to make it look better on screen? (for exam screen refresh rates or something?}

yer monitors an lcd isnt it?,.. if so then no your assed out on the refresh rate scene to put it bluntly,..lol when using anti aliasing,.. in nvidia drivers theres gamma correct anti aliasing, and transperency anti aliasing. in performance and quality/advanced view settings. enable gamma correct and try out super sampling and multisampling transperency anti aliasing in yoru games,... also you can change the image quality to "high quality" instead of default quality. thats what i use myself and it seems lately the peformance hit from it is getting smaller and smaller on geforce 7 cards( i use driver version 84.25 beta),.. also,. experiment with the different sli modes,.. google coolbits 2.0 and get it if you dont have it,it will open up all the locked options in nvidia drivers

Jez, ever heard of text formatting?

I can't read this in my horrible LCD monitor. I think I need my Sony 420GS back. That was a much better monitor.

And it is also a much better use for my GTX. I will be able to run it on its 1024x768 glory

Tomb Raider Legend anyone???

That game is kicking my 7800gt's butt!

Playing wilth all options on (except widescreen) at 1600x900 (fits my 19" CRT fine).

Using Zalman cooler on the 7800gt, had it on the low setting. Card hit 96c! (it was hot in the room too).

Now with the Zalman on high, it wouldn't go past 82 in a hot room. Much better.

Great graphics!

Games: Oblivion, Tomb Raider Legend demo, FarCry + HDR (yeah it's old, but it looks damn goregeous on the first level!), Call of Duty 2...

As for your monitor business, I'd suggest getting a nice CRT. Around Christmas time, I ordered a Dell P1130 from eBay, refurbished and it was $135 shipped (68 friggin pounds = mass shipping). A friend of mine bought the NEC FE1250+ for $200 refurbished/shipped from Azatek.com, or you could try www.accurateit.com for some nice monitors. Refurbished is a fraction of the cost, and the websites (not ebay) usually offer an extended warranty. Recently my dad found a good deal from a friend, $25 for a Sony GDM-500PS, a 21" CRT. Heck, you could even check your local newspaper's classified ads... I've seen some nice monitors in there!

Moral of the story: 7900 GT SLI is useless unless you have the components to show them off. Yes, that includes a nice monitor with a high res.

Don't forget the Age of Empires 3. You will experience BOTH CPU limitation and GPU limitation. If you can find out where CPU/GPU split, this game is just about perfect to measure them because there is not much hard disk swapping in this game except in the beginning.

I bought some 19" Dell P991 Trinitron CRT's on craigslist. 2 for $80!

Mainy games running at 1600x1200 @85hz!! Desktop 2048x768@120hz!!

SCORE!

So much better than the crappy Gateway EV700's I had before.

Having a great monitor is like having great speakers. Better to have great speakers and an ok receiver than to have a great receiver and crappy speaks.
