Got my ACT scores back!

I took the ACT in December, and again in March.

In December, I got a composite score of 30 with a breakdown of 33 (english), 32 (reading), 28 (math), 28 (science).

In March (the scores I got back today), I got a compostive score of 32 with a breakdown of 34 (english), 30 (reading), 32 (math), 32 (science).

I really am pretty stoked about that.

Anyone else get their scores back?

Congrats! The only problem is that at your current rate of decline, you won't be able to read in about four years.

Yeah. I was kinda mad about the decline in the reading scores. Oh well. I still got a 32 composite. Whatever.

I'm still jaded about my ACT's. I scored like 32-33 on every section except science, where i fell asleep and got like a 22 for a composite of 29. Never retook it cuz i had an athletic scolarship and only needed like a 15.

I too received a 30 on my first time. 'Twas good enough for me, so that was that.

 

*cues ATOT response of took act while having a 120 degree fever, while fending off 4 bears and a giant squid, all while being up for 400 hours strait.

Almost forgot...they all get 36.

32's pretty good, but if you're looking at the upper echelon of colleges, it'll be just around the median...but if you're lucky, some schools take the best partial score overall, so you'd be looking at 34, 32, 32, 32.

I'm looking at the top echelon of small liberal arts colleges, where the median for most is 30 or 31.

Taking the ACT was the best move I ever made in my four years of H.S. I took the prep courses and everything for the SAT, and went down 30 points from my PSAT grade and got a 1380. Then, I barely study for the ACT (just 2 practice tests in 2 months) and I get 99th percentile. I still think it got me into Northwestern.

I got a 21, I always get A's in class though. My gpa is like 3.8. I think it was because I went out the night before, and on top of that, took no prep courses AT ALL. I am wondering if I should retake it or not. Do colleges look more at the ACT scores or your highschool gpa?

I did get 86% on science and really really bad on english everything else was average...

Congratulations! I got a 32 composite when I took it as well, though I don't remember the exact breakdown.

That just means you take easy classes in school - I went out the night before as well and got a 29 with no prep courses.

Just for everyone's info, the scale tops out at 36. With a composite 32, you'll get into any college you want.

Never took the ACT, but on a practice test I scored a composite 23, which is still a damn good score. If I remember correctly, anything below a 16 doesn't get you into college.

I think you should take it again. A college would be pleased with the 3.8, but the 21 would probably make them hesitant, as in what kind of classes did he take to get this 3.8. So yeah you should take it again, why not? You seem to think you can do better and getting anything better would put you in a better position for sure. Also be sure not to just take easy core classes your senior year, show the college you're willing to challenge yourself.

I have a 3.9 gpa and a 34 act and will be going to northwestern in the fall.
