Hybrid is wise choice, I bet they will actually retain value unlike all other Fords.

MSRP is $8000 more than a non hybrid, I'm not sure it's financial wise.

Considering the ridiculous tax credits and rebates you get for buying a 'green' car, the gap is much more narrow.

How much is the tax credit? The rebate is $1700(?) but as dud mentioned you may be able to negotiate that down as you should have a larger selection of non-hybrids.

Technically I qualify for the $3400, I put a down payment and had a verified order before March 31st.

As far as price goes, if I would have gotten a different 2010 Fusion, it would have been the Sport Edition, which with the SAME exact options as my current hybrid would have been ~$500 less. At that point the choice was easy. Hybrid for me.

And as a point of craziness, I'm at 350 miles on this initial full tank of gas, and I still have more than a half tank, at the rate I'm driving, I will hit half tank a little north of 400 miles. And the engine isnt even broken in yet. Went to my parents house for mother's day dinner and between the two trips averaged almost 53mpg. Thats just sick.

Def. keep us updated on your avg mileage and range per tank.

Plus, if you drive freeways at all during rush hour, you may be able to take advantage of the HOV lane. I know that a hybrid will be a major consideration for my next car as not sitting in stop and go traffic would be worth the money.

They stopped that in Cali. Wonder what other states do it.

Three Things

1. The car really looks nice. Ford.

2. How is the quality of the interior. Unfortunately from you photo the interior looks like the materials and things are cheap.

3. Can we get a side shot please?

Congrats man...fantastic piece of technology...and I'm glad Ford is selling so many of them. Good to see Ford coming out with such competitive products. If my wife and I were in the market for a 4 door family sedan...we'd definitely take a look at it.

Cars rarely make financial sense. Unfortunately, they are a necessity in many parts of this country though. I never give people crap for financing a car unless they can't pay for it.

I've financed practically every car I've ever owned and have never gotten burned by it or been upside down in a vehicle I couldn't pay for. It is short term low interest debt, not like credit card debt. When I bought my Maxima I got a 5 year loan at a very low 1.9% interest rate.

Credit card debt = bad
Auto loan = good

nice, how much?

$27867.25 out the door after Ford A plan. I got rapid spec 501A which is basically everything minus leather seats(i hate them) and nav system(don't need it already have a portable one)

Not bad considering I'll get the tax credit plus sales tax deduction.

Is the sales tax deduction only for domestic cars or is it for all cars? I bought a foreign in February.

Good question. I'll look around and see. Also, the Ford Fusion is a foreign car, lol!

Oh, and congrats and thanks (for helping the automotive industry) OP!

F that, "helping" the industry is what got them in trouble in the first place. Ford come up with a great product and he bought it... that's the American way. Kudos for Ford.

agreed. this is actually a nice car from an american automaker that people should buy because it's good, not out of guilt or patriotic protectionist BS.

and i love the speedo cluster of this car! no RPM meter though but i guess the hybrid flower thing is more important for the hybrid.

Dash is fantastic. I was so disappointed with the hyrbid camry a few years ago, you didn't get much digital display stuff, but this is all over it, just as it should be.

Actually it has a tach/RPM meter, where it says EV in the picture, that is the RPMs for the electric motor, when the gas motor turns on the EV disappears and it shows a line with red(instead of green) behind it, each solid bar representing 1000rpm. The car will do 65 mph at about ~1200 rpm.

Awesome. Where's da dipstick in the engine bay?

If you look at the engine shot and zoom in just above and slightly left of the H in hybrid on the motor cover is a little flip top that hides the dipstick. Ford recommends 10,000 milesshocked/6months between oil changes.

1.) Thanks

2.) The interior is fairly nice, only a couple odd places have the crappy hard plastic, but 95% of the plastic in the interior is the soft touch kind. The rest is painted and/or brushed aluminum. Most of the dials are aluminum. The steering wheel is wrapped in leather. The seats are very comfortable and supportive and dont cut your legs off at the thigh, which is important to me given that I'm 6'0 tall. And on top of that it is whisper quiet inside at speed. I know some people will jump all over me, but the last time I was in a car this quiet it was a Mercedes or BMW. At 35-40mph with the electric motor on, all you can hear is a soft hum from the electric motor.

3.) Next post will have some more pictures.

More pictures as requested and a couple more just to show off more of the car.

Center stack at ignition
Side shot driver's side
Rear end of the car
Blind spot/cross traffic warning indicator

The first 3 are just the center stack and a side profile and rear profile of the car...I like the taillights with the honeycomb pattern.

The last shot is a picture of one of the side-view mirrors, circled in red is the blind spot warning/cross traffic warning indicator. A little explanation. When you are driving and someone is in your blind spot this little indicator glows bright orange to warn you that someone is in your blind spot. Both passenger and driver side mirrors have one.

The cross traffic warning works the same way as the blind spot but it is for pulling out of parking spots, when an object(car, person, grocery cart) is headed towards your car the indicator light flashes orange AND your speakers produce an audible warning on the directionality of the object(using the surround sound), so left rear, right front etc. Both are very nifty features.

if it works the same as the mazda one it'll also have an audible tone if you have your indicator going that direction as well

I learned something recently that was so simple and basic that I was actually somewhat embarrassed.

Look at the gas gage on the right. See the little arrow pointing to the left next to the gas pump symbol? That indicates which side the gas filler is on. GM does this and I now see that Ford does too. I have no idea if all car makers do this or not.

I don't know how long they've been doing this, but I just discovered it within the last year.

It's amazing how many people don't know this, LOL. My 2003 Dodge Durango and 2003 Dodge intrepid has them. Don't know if my 90's cars had them or not but they do come in handy, especially if you own multiple vehicles that have the gas cap on different sides.

I never knew it until I read about it here a couple of months ago. But every car I've ever owned (wife's included) has had the gas cap on the drivers side, so it's not been a problem for me yet.

Sweet. I know you'd been waiting on this car for a while. The new Fusion looks fantastic and I really like that color you picked too.

I quickly learned this lesson when I started my first travelling technician job. In and out of rentals every other day and week makes one discover where the gas cap is on a variety of brands of cars
