With the new tank, I've gone 125 miles and my fuel display shows as one notch below full.

And @markgm, what do you currently drive?? And whats the mileage.

With the Fusion Hybrid if you set the cruise control and average between 60-65MPH on the highway you can easily touch 40MPG+

It will not get more accurate, that's by design.

I drive a '99 Accord EX-V6. It has about 178k on it, I average 23 MPG over the life of the car, and about 27 MPG over the last year (longer trips on the Interstate every day.)

It's strange that it's all in the power seat. I test drove an Accord without one and couldn't fit comfortably.

I average around 75-80 MPH on my drive in. At 2 hours in the car each day, driving 15 over the limit shaves off half an hour of driving. That's the flow of traffic on most days.

Very impressive. You know they license Toyota's hybrid tech. They waited to long to invest in any themselves so they simply paid Toyota money to use their plans. MPG looks very similar to the new Prius', so this makes sense.

No they didn't. They built their own stuff and they didn't want to infringe on the patents toyota already held on some of the tech. Ford licensed some of it to keep from getting sued and in return toyota licensed some of Ford emission tech.

And actually on the Fusion Hybrid, the system is Ford's 'GenII' hybrid drive, totally built from the ground up in Dearborn, licenses no toyota tech/patents and has over 100 unique patents of its own.

Not to mention I can cruise all electric mode up to 47mph. Show me a Toyota that can do that.

Wow! You didn't just say that in this forum, right? It's NOT possible for a US car company to do something better than the foreign manufacturors! Take that comment back!

Geez, I'd have to gas up once every month to month and a half with that kind of mileage!!

Congrats on your purchase, DeathBUA!

Well I could honestly do the same. Except lately been doing much more driving than normal. Mostly wedding preparation stuff. I'm really going to push the car this weekend driving. I've got about 200 miles on this tank of gas. Plan to do 500+ miles this weekend. Should make it home with about a gallon left, and 700+ miles on one tank of gas

What gas milage do you get when driving realistic michigan highway speeds (75-80)?
The car sounds like an awesome commuter, especially with A-plan.

Great choice, congrats! I really like this car and it would be one of the few I would consider purchasing if I was in the market for one.

One question, did you look at the leather version? If so how is the quality of the leather and how does it compare to the non-leather seats?

Well I honestly dont know. I never set my cruise above 72. But at that point I was getting 39-41mpg(with cruise control on) depending on the whether flat/uphill/downhill. Whats nice with the setup on the cruise control is that downhill slopes it just coasts(literally the RPMs drop to zero), check the instant MPG gauge and be getting 60+mpg.

And @HopJokey. The leather seemed nice, I test rode/drove in a leather one at the dealership for kicks, the leather did feel fairly supple and nice, but I've always hated leather in my car. To that end, my steering wheel is leather and it feels quite nice. And seat comfort felt similar, nothing outrageously different in comfort

Anyways I'm at 255 miles and finally just at the 3/4 full line. Long term MPG is 43.9.
(although my daily average to work and back is between 48-52MPG)

When I read the original post and saw the magic words "A plan" I thought the OP probably lived around Detroit. Then when I saw the pictures of the car and the surrounding houses I though "man that kinda looks like say Allen Park" then the Southgate Ford license plate holder confirmed that you are indeed a fellow downriver scumbag! (Gibraltar and Brownstown here).

That aside im starting to shop for a new car. My first thought was Mustang (also get A plan), but im disappointed in the engine choices - I had hoped that the ecoboost 6 and coyote would have ended up in the 2010s. I really like the new Challenger R/Ts, but im a bit wary of buying a Chrysler product now. I honestly had not even considered a hybrid until I saw this thread and then started reading the reviews which buried a lot of those preconceptions that all hybrids are dogs or have to be driven in the least fun possible way. So this thread definitely gets my thumbs up.

Congrats on the new car, I appreciate the technology that went into it, and am very hopeful it will be a great money maker for Ford.

<--Owner of Aerostar, 3 Rangers, Sable, F150, and currently an F250. I don't know why the heck I've bought so many fords, but have gotten pretty accustomed to owning one

Eh, I'd rather show you a Toyota that will drive to 300k no problem, and ask your Ford to do the same. They simply can't. Proof is in the resale prices. The Americans just don't keep their resale value.

I just purchased one of these yesterday. Got the 502 because it's what they had and I got it for 4k off sticker after a little creative math with the manager. The 05 Mustang was traded in and I actually got over my payoff for it, which worked in my favor as well. Damn fine car so far, all the amenities are nice and the gas mileage this far is great. Ford really surprised me with how solid this car is.

According to my car, my long term MPG is 44.2MPG...according to what my fill ups are telling me, it's 46.6MPG(so basically its slowly going up as the car breaks in and I learn to drive it)

I just drove basically 475 miles roundtrip this weekend, obviously 90% highway and managed 45.7mpg going up, and 44.4mpg coming home. That was going between 65-70MPH with lots of hilly stretches. I've got about 40% of the tank left. I will basically drive this tank to the bitter end. Should be like 725 miles or so.

And @jdogg707, it really is a solid car. Glad you like it too.

Keep it up. You American-car haters are going to get a big surprise.

According to quality data, Ford has passed Honda and is statistically tied with Toyota. Uh-oh....

Oh yeah - a big part of the resale value issue came from the Big 3 selling hundreds of thousands of cars to rental agencies. Exactly because of that issue, Ford dumped Hertz and majorly scaled back rental agency sales. The proof is in their steady residuals and resale values improvement.

So I'm on my second tank of 500+ miles. On track for 700+ with this one. Which is pretty awesome considering the 450+ miles of highway driving!

Anyways, more interesting tidbits I'm discovering about the car....this car will do stealth EV mode up to about 61mph. Found that out on my long road trip up north this weekend. On either a very flat or slightly descending road surface at 60mph with the car warm the first 5-10% of the throttle will not increase RPM, and the battery drains steadily and instant MPG goes to 60+ on the dashboard. Although hard to hear at that speed I could not hear the gas engine, and when I gently increased throttle further I'd feel the very very subtle shimmy this car gives when going between gas and EV modes(and hear the gas engine start). I'm not an engineer or car expert but thats the best I could figure.
