well, aren't truck engine focus on torque than Horsepower?
Toyota's 4.7L on the LX470 and Land Cruiser has like 300hp, and the smaller 4.3L on the LS and SC has more hp.

The Mustang is an "affordable" car with a strong V8. Show me any other car that you can buy for the price of a new mustang with 300 HP.

GTO. But that's only if you want a faster car than a Mustang.

You need an AWD dyno to get correct readings. Both the front and rear set of rollers are loaded.

My 300bhp car dynoed about 215awhp stock. AWD + heartbreaker dyno = definitely not a dyno queen.

It's not that bad, are you kidding?

that's 300 crank HP easily.. much more than a lot of other V8's out there.

Many import V6s do just under a hair of these numbers, and they're V6's. Atleast GM's new V8's have power!

Mustang GT starts at $25, 860

Wow that means the GT must be underrated in terms of torque.

With those numbers, it must be putting out at least 320-350tq at the crank.

Mustang GT has $4,000 dealer markup too. Yeah, the EVO has only 286hp...but it's still faster than the Mustang GT, handles better and has better brakes too.

Still, nice numbers. I like the new Mustang GT.

it may look bland, but the interior quality is light years ahead of your GT's and its performance is better as well.

Sure it will handle better, Mustangs have never been a handling car....although greatly improved over the years . Show me some numbers where the EVO is quicker in a straight line please.

I do wish they were available in canada...I wouldn't mind taking one out for a test drive.

I actually asked the guy that...he said, if he can, he pulls one of the drive shafts out.

The GTO starts at $33k but comes loaded. If you fully load out a GT it'll be in the same range as well. Only you lose out on 100hp.

Stock EVO:

0-60mph: 4.8 seconds
1/4 mile: 13.4 seconds @ approx 104mph
Braking 60-0: 108ft (better than a Ferrari 360 Modena)

WRX-STi performance is almost identical to the EVO.

I know, they are very close. I'd give the nod to the EVO's AWD though over most drivers trying to launch the RWD Mustang properly. Can't argue about the handling and brakes though. EVO has you beat. So does the STi.
