GA. The ad valorem tax used to be spread out yearly over the life of the vehicle. Now they collect it up front based on the value of the car. So what would’ve cost me $20 for the initial tag and about $100 at the annual renewal costed me $1,100 upfront. It sucks and makes private individual vehicle purchase more expensive than before. I’m sure dealers love it though since it makes them more competitive with private party vehicle sales.
Yeah I'm in GA too and I know a guy who was a used car dealer (no car lot, just buying at auction and reselling) and that law pretty much put him out of business.
