Got my Dell ULTRASHARP 2005fp. -----

Update Jan 18th:

New monitor is here, REV. A01. There doesn't appear to be any dead pixels but I think the backlight issue may be even worse.

Here are a few pics, compare with the other ones below.

Backlight bleedthrough has gotten much worse. New Pics..

5 dead pixels..

On the phone will Dell now.

Just 1 dead subpixel which is SO small i cannot see it from seat. Does not show on ANY colors other than black.

The backlight "bleeding" is typically in the 4 corners.

It can just make the image look slighty washed out..Or white ( in black areas ) Lets some light leak through "supposedly" because the panel isn't COMEPLETELY flat and leaks through.

Thankfully this monitor seems pretty good.

I work at CompUSA and had it ordered through the tech shop... ( Threw a Carry in Replacement on there that way. )

Anyhow..

I was lucky enough to have it hooked up on a G5 DIRECTLY next to the apple display.

I should have taken a pic. I think most guys there had the same answer.

"Looks as good" or better.

Nice . I'm a Mac guy myself, but I can't stand the stupid mac fanboys who insist you have to have an Apple display. The Dell actually has better specs then the Apple screen...yet so many people still go out and buy the Apple because it looks better, design-wise. Damn fanboys.

Yeah, both are made by LG, but the Dell has a higher contrast ratio, though I have to agree, the Apple monitor is damn sexy. I'm actually saving up for the 30" myself.

Exactly. I've been looking at it since it was released, but never really thought about getting it. But once I saw it at CompUSA...love at first sight...now THAT is a display.

Looks like the monitor I have ;-) I agree... awesome describes it. Must admit I was worried at first getting such a weird resolution... SO... my new years resolution is..well.. 1680 x 1050..lol.

Only thing that might be iffy is games. And there are quite a few that are WS supported..
