Got my G2x yesterday and so far I'm loving it.
Its running 2.3.3 gingerbread.
I'm on T-mobile and I switch between the Vibrant and IP4 quite often with 80% toward the IP4 unless I'm traveling and I need 3G/4G speed.
My biggest gripe with Android was 1) battery life 2) lagginess of the UI.
With the dual-core, seems like the lagginess is pretty much minimized.
I can honestly say that the smoothness difference between the G2x and the IP4 is not noticeable.

I have not rooted the phone.
I tried ADW and now I use Go Launcher as its much smoother.
Battery life is not close to the IP4 but better than the Vibrant.
Another thing that bugged me about the Vibrant was the keyboard.
I text alot and I'm always making mistakes vs the IP4 but the keyboard on the G2x is super responsive.
The GPS is perfect. Locks in 10secs.
The best thing is now I get to enjoy 3g/4g full time.
Previously I enjoyed using the IP4 that much more that I'm willing to endure EDGE.

This will be my main phone now.
I've been pro-iphone ever since the IP4 came out and to be honest, Android was getting boring to me.
Getting this dual-core Android changed my mind.
I can't wait for the nest generation Android with the new 1280x720 display.
I will probably still get an IP5 when it comes out as I'm a phone enthusiast.
The speedtest is inside my house.

Awesome. I has a jealous.

I was thinking about going G2x but it wasn't enough of a jump from a G2. (now a mytouch4g, obtained in exchange for the G2. Yay more RAM.)

It looks really nice. I'll probably hold off for next gen though.

any reason you chose the g2x over the sensation?

also...put cyanogen mod on that thing asap!

I really hate how unsmooth my Samsung Cap is with Android at times. 2.3 was maybe smoother but alot less stable.

Looking at Win phone next or maybe IP5

This is an easy answer.
It was FREE !!!
Everytime the Sensation was FREE(like an 4-hr window), I missed out.
I added a line to get it free.
I will cancel so essentially the phone will be $200 ETF fee for me.

To be honest, I hate all the HTC 4.3 phones.
After the HD2, HTC have gone downhill.
Every 4.3 phone is a clone of each other.
HTC must have fire all design engineers.
Had both been free, I Sensation would have edge out just because of the specs but the 4" form factor fits me best.

200 + 1 month of service though, right? or if you cancel after one day, do they pro-rate it?
you mean to say that next time time they have a midnight sale on the sensation, I can get it for $200 without a contract?!

Seriously, I was in the same camp.
1 of 2 gripes against Android was the lagginess of the UI.
I put Go Launcher on the G2x and most of all the lagginess ae all gone.
The dual-core is a big help.

Well, I have a family plan with 4 lines, I save the 5th line so I can do this all the time.
Add a line will only cost you $5/$10 depends on what plan you have.
Last time, I added a G2 on my fifth line for $5 add a line.
The CS let me add on a line without a data plan.
I hated the G2 and I sold it for $320.
Funny thing is that they never charge me the ETF fee.

This time I went online to add a line.
The G2x was free and the only choice for data was $30/month.
I guess they took away the $10/$15 data because of all the new plans they have now.
But when I went to checkout, I was able to remove the $30 data plan.
I did that and they sent out the phone anyway.
So this will cost me $200+$5 and maybe the $35 activation fee.
I'll be able to have the activation fee taken out because I'm on a corporate account and there is no activation fee.

Install cm7 with the glitch kernel, the cappy is pretty damn smooth with this combination.

And people wonder why T-Mobile is broke...

What is stopping anyone from signing up a new line to get a high-end phone like the Sensation, G2X, and others for free, and cancel to sell on eBay? Surely that phone is worth much more than the $200 ETF fee?

If the iPhone 5 comes out on T-mobile, get phone for free and pay the $200 ETF fee to sell it to an Apple geek for $400-500? That looks to be a lucrative business.

LOL, did you really just gave me a lecture ??
T-mobile set EFT at $200 for a reason.
If they were losing more, they would set it higher.

Yo, whats the battery life on the G2X? I too have a Vibrant and I have to keep this thing charging all the time, even with a new second battery. It has never lasted me longer than 9 hours without needing a charge.

If I use my Vibrant just as a phone it last about 18 hours. If I have data useage ect, I get about 8 hours. The 3g really kicks this battery in the balls.
I'm going to order one of the extended batteries for it and see if that can get me through a day.

I will let you know after a week.
LOL, I had 3 batteries with the Vibrant and it was never enough.
The vibrant ran through batteries like a hot knife on butter.
it doesn't look good so far.
I had it at 100% at 7 this morning and its noon now and its under 50%.
I haven't played with the phone that much either.

My G2x was FREE, no chance I'll can replace something else this good for FREE.
When I left my data on for the day, the battery was draining like crazy.
I had Juice Defender and that didn't help.
I shut-off data and the battery drain is normal now.
Need to find what the cuprits are.
