My first job was shelving books at the local library... started volunteering there when I was 12 or so and got the job at 15. That was a cool job, much better than working retail.

Yep, finally 'experienced' this a month ago. Told someone to take a job offer and shove it (personal issues and money, but I thought the job would be cool) for $11/hour or go back to where I am now: office, IT work. Currently, I have no work, done everything I've been given, and am surfing for $20/hour...

I was 17 and I worked at an old folks home dinning hall. I made $7.35 US (I got the extra 0.10 because I knew a guy). I worked 16 hours a week. The work sucked, so did the pay. But the hours were perfect for being in High School. I got out of school at 3:00pm and worked 4:00-8:00. Plenty of time to come home and do homework.

16 and got a job at my school in the IT deparment. Made $150 a month(only place computer related that would hire me), plus it was an extra credit in school. Still it was slightly below minimum wage when factoring in the work I did. The most annoying part was getting taxed on that money:|. When summer came I got bumped up to $7/hr. Now I'm still there, but make a good bit more than that

My first job was at a campground near my home, I made $8/hour to pick up trash. I was 13.

At about 16 I opened my own company, doing PC/Network consulting. At this point I made $30-$40/hr, although the work was sporadic.

Over the past 5 years I've held several different jobs at various levels of pay. Today I'm making a salaried $1,106 per week working as a summer intern.

First job was delievering a local suburban newspaper.
Then I worked at boy scout camp
Then I work at Long John Silvers
Then I started up a computer business.
Once I got into college, I worked at a PBS station, and Boy Scout camp.
Then I worked as an intern for a Fortune 50 company.
Then I took a student position in media services at the college.
Then I took a job as the computer admin person for a government contractor.
Then I graduated college, and took a boring ass job as a parts designer, and I've been suffering with this job ever since.

$1106/wk as an intern? Damn. I'm getting about that much bi-weekly at my co-op (my first job).

i got my first job during college (well, in the summer). i was a ride operator at a new theme park in my hometown, Gilroy, CA. i started at 8/hr i think, but later i was trained to drive their train (2-foot track guage) around the park, and i got 10/hr then. lol, they had to cut back pay the next season because they werent doing so good. but i still came back for a few summers to drive the train mostly.

my first real job, i got last april, 2006 as an environmental consultant. college degree 4tw.

16, worked in the Bottle Return Department at Meijer's.

IIRC I started at $3.15/hr and by the time I moved on to another job I was making $4.25/hr. Was big money when I didn't have any other responsibilities other than my car. lol

Was the job I had the most fun at.

Was also a dirty job in the summer... people bringing in bags of cans with rotten trash in it..

I think that's why most places have you process your own returns now. (At least here in my area)

I used to be able to look at a beer bottle and tell you who the manufacturer and distributer were. It's a lost art. Now all glass returns go into a single bin. (most places)

My first technical "job" (with an hourly wage) was an internship at Cisco, $20/hr.

I'd been paid stipends for work before that, though (equating to very small hourly wages).
