Happiness != money, but there is definitely a trend. At some point you have to sacrifice a little bit of money to get the job you love and plan to do the rest of your life. I could never work the job I have now for more than a couple years.. its way too stressfull.

My first job was at a campground near my home, I made $8/hour to pick up trash. I was 13.
At about 16 I opened my own company, doing PC/Network consulting. At this point I made $30-$40/hr, although the work was sporadic.
Over the past 5 years I've held several different jobs at various levels of pay. Today I'm making a salaried $1,106 per week working as a summer intern.
