Must not be very loud since I can not here them over my case fans. I think I'm going to replace the hsf with something else because the core on these babies gets warm.

I understand that it is easier to convert from DVI to VGA than vice versa. Therefore, having two DVI outs is better than one DVI and one VGA. With the latter, you could only connect one DVI at most, but with the former (and with the DVI-to-VGA adapters) any combination is possible. More flexibility = good!

Also, I vaguely remember a recent Anandtech's article mentioned some analog filters on GeForce3 cards affecting the 2d image quality? If so, the DVI outputs should not be affected. If I'm wrong, correct me please.

I have a question of my own, though. Gainward Ti4600 is supposed to have VIVO. Does your card indeed have it? Does it work?

P.S. Hate the red PCB color. That's the only con I have against many Gainward's pros.

I think the red colored boards is quite cool. The box says it has vivo but I have not messed with that feature. I will try to confirm tonight and get back with you.

The squid and the werewolf are the coolest. Grace won't run for me for some reason, the bug one is kind of dumb. Tidepool is pretty cool as well.

Spending $400US+ on a video card just to beat your chest and say you've got a higher 3D mark than any of your friends... sheesh.

Half the world starving or malnourished, the other half bent on blowing itself into eternal destruction - and there we are in the middle worried about 3D Marks and longer-lasting bubblegum. And quite willing to kick the legs out from under others in order to put themselves higher...

I wish I had $700 Canadian to just burn on useless things like Bungholoio2000 video cards. If I did, I still wouldn't.

Spare us the "holier than thou" crap. If you were any different, you wouldn't be wasting time on an online tech forum talking about what you have in your machine. You would be out there doing something for the betterment of mankind. The truth is that man is materialistic, if we weren't we wouldn't put locks on our doors or walk by the bums on the street. I'm not perfect and I won't make it look like I'm a saint or better than someone else. Everyone has to have something for a pastime, and geeks usually buy or make their computer as best as they can. Some people like cars, some jewelry, some big fancy houses. If you had everything you would buy the fast video card cause it might not mean anything to you, but just cause you could. Some people are worse than others when it comes to this "competition" but it's their perogative. I would like to have the best stuff in my rig if I could but face it, more often than not I don't need it and it's probably not worth the cost either. I do upgrades now as I see fit and I look for deals cause I want the most from my hard earned money.

To the guy who bought the Gainward Ti4600, it looks like a great card, I think you should give it to me hehe Aww c'mon, I need a new card. Try some benches in some "real world" apps and let us know how it works, especially some new optimized games.

Lxi, it looks like the best games bundle out comes with the MSI card, but I don't think we will be looking at as good performance out of that card. It's still early in the game though. I too want to see what the Gainward Ti4400 is like cause I bet you can overclock it to a good amount(close to the Ti4600) and it should be a good amount less too.

You know something, I think the MSI board is red as well. I would check on that though.

Edit: No, the new MSI cards aren't red, they're green. I could have sworn I saw another brand with a red pcb though.

I don't know, how many fps can you get in Quake 3 for one. I bet you can get real close to 300fps here.
How about RTCW, Aquanox, MOHAA, Giants, or anything else fairly new. I know you won't have all these games, but whatever stresses the video card the most should give a good idea on comparison to what the other GF4 and earlier cards are getting.

I wish they were releasing a really good game soon so that it could be tested on new hardware. The only new game that I know of coming out is Jedi Knight 2 at the end of March(29th I think).

At stock speed the Gainward Geforce4 Ti4600 I got 10500 on 3dmark2001. That was with the core at 300 mem at 650MHz.

Overclocking to 320 core and 750 mem I got a score of 11,000. I think the core is limiting here since I bumped up the RAM 100MHz over stock and only got another 500 points. The core does not like 330MHz. It runs for a few minutes and locks up. Sound like a heat problem. Time to upgrade the hsf. >>

Actually I do have all those games except Aquanox. I'm not sure how to do a benchmark in them though. I do know how to do a timedemo in Quake3.

Wait a minute now I'm confused. United Micro told me just 2 days ago and every day before that the cards were being shipped at the earliest wednesday of this week and I called the Gainward US supplier and they said they didn't even get the cards until this week except for about 10 that went out to hardware review sites.

I guess they lied to you. The first batch they got was supposed to be arriving on the 4th. Well it was delayed until the 8th. They shipped mine out the same day they got them which was Friday the 8th. they might have told you that so you would not get mad that you had ordered one and did not get one of the first batch. Not sure. Maybe all of the cards they had were already spoken for so the earliest that they could possibly ship yours was Wednesday.

They said they would have more cards in yesterday and so in calling in this morning, I wasnt surprised to be told that they're out of stock and would be getting more in next. I am this close to just chucking it and cancelling the order. I figure it would be better to wait for more cards to come available at newegg.

I "ordered" my Geforce4 Ti4600 from United Micro on the 23rd. They had ETA 28 March on their site and on Pricewatch until the 29th. After emailing them several times they finally replied (on the 29th) with:

We received some cards yesturday. Next shipment is coming in on 04-08-02.
Your card will be shipping then.
----------------------------

No "we're sorry we can't fill your order" no "we oversold our cards and we apologize" just those two lines of text, crappy spelling and all.

They knew that they wouldn't have enough to fill all the orders on the 28th but they left that date listing up anyway so the orders would keep coming in and they could string people along.

I cancelled my order. I'll "suffer" with my GeForce2 for a few weeks longer rather that put up with that crap.

PNY pictured a red GeForce4 on their site, but was later confirmed that they're green as well, since they're made by MSI.

Looks like the Gainward will be the only red card out there.
