Alright chaps, it's been a while.

Further to my previous post back in august, I've made some mods and got my pulsejet back up and running. We did some full power runs right up until it failed. I was really badly hung over, which is why I sound a bit rough. When my mate's dad calls, he's about 2 miles away and can hear the thing running!

Enjoy: pulsejet

Weird, I was just remembering your first video the other day when talking to someone about pulsejets.

The argument about the valves was hilarious. The meltdown was craaazy.

Good stuff. Just needs to be bigger, louder, and explode at the end, and you'll be rolling in defense department contracts in no time

Sweet!

I'll add that to my "mad-scientist list of things to do." A few more things and I'll be that guy in the neighborhood: "he seems like a nice guy, but I dunno."

irritatingly, the digital scales had turned themselves off on the final run, just as it went pop I was telling the fuel dude witht he girly hair to shut it down. Readings before were over 25kg, and the fuelling wasn't totally to the max. I would estimate about 30 to 35kg with it running at max power which isn't too bad. After the repairs, my next plan is to add water injection to the mix. The water is drawn in and turned to steam with all that heat, the steam adds a load of thrust and makes the engine run a little cooler. Does mean that the buggy I eventually strap it to will have to lug both a water tank and the propane tank, so I'll need to figure out how much to carry and all that...

Cheers for the comments!

Nice! I've cracked 2 glass jars today while playing with pulse jet technology.

So...it just gets louder when the fuel isn't burning? That doesn't make much sense...

No, the fuel is burning. It isn't supposed to flame out like that.

I was trying to remember where I'd heard that engine note before.

Then I got it. Old WW2 footage of V1 flying bombs [aka 'Doodlebug] over London at the end of the war.

Doodlebug

Video

They used pulse jet.
