I just recieved my eVGA 5900nu, this thing is great even compaired to the GF4 Ti it replaced. I can now play BF1942 with 4xAA and 8x Quality AF at 60+ FPS. Also this thing OCs like crazy I can run it at 490/985 stable (up from 400/850).

One thing though, it seems like some things take quite a bit longer to load. BF1942 for exapmle used to boot to the main screen in 1 or 2 seconds, now it takes 20 or so, it must be the 52.16 driver I am using? Also 3dMark 2001 takes longer to load (the main screen, not tests).

All in all, i'm very happy, I got it from New Egg for $219.00

btw, I get ~15,000 in 3dMark2001, that seems a bit low for this along with my OCed 2500+, is that low?

Nah that?s not a very low 3Dmark2001 score
i get the same score with my FX5900nu but its cool i never play that game anyways so who cares

I got my FX5900 because i wanted the best videocard out now that will run Homeworld2 with the highest Frame rate and IQ and Stability that?s what the FX5900 gives me and the ATI9800 Pro fails in 2 of those areas you get the cards to play the games u want not get the games too play the cards.

With my GF4 Ti @ 311/675 I got ~14k and now I only get ~15k, oh whell, its fast either way . However my 3dmark03 score has gone from ~1400 (iirc) to ~5500, but that is to be expected.

I get around the same score with my 9800 NP which is in the same 3dmark league. Must be a bios or memory timing thing that prohibits us from getting above the 16 grand mark.

Well I have been out of the tech loop for a few months now but am getting back in.

I have an offer from this idiot I know who wants to buy my TI4400 for $200. I am going to sell it to him soon and am thinking about which card I should replace it with that won't cost much more than that. My choice after looking at my options seems to be the 5900np (non-pro?) for $220 or so from Newegg. I wanted to know if this is the best choice, or should I be looking at something else?

15k is a little low... that's what I was getting with the old 45.23's. I wouldn't worry too much about it... just make sure you have AA and AF off for the test... you can just set them to application control in the drivers.

The guy is an idiot and thinks he knows everything about computers. So I offered my TI4400 at $200 just as a joke at first, and he thinks it is a good deal. If it was someone who admitted they did not know everything I would never do this, but this guy has a long history with me and he deserves this.

Anyways, is the FX 5900 non-ultra card the best deal right now? For $220 it seems to perform better than the 5700 Ultra which is $200 anyways.

If it is only going to cost you $20 out of pocket, definantly go for it. I went from a 4400 and am very impressed. I was running Rally Sport Challenge at 4xAA and 8xAF (quality) and getting a constant 60fps (due to vsync) With my 4400 I only ran it at 2xAA and 2xAF (high performance) and averaged around 30. This thing is a powerhouse.

Yeah I'd definitely suggest you get the 5900 nu over the 5700 ultra. $20 more gives you a lot more performance.

If you want to stick with nVidia, the 5900 is definitely the best value in their line-up right now.

titanmiller, i think, if you came before from a geforce then you should use a program to erase all nvidia files before installing a new geforce.
