If you want legal advice, seek out and retain an attorney. I'm not sure how things work in Canada, but US attorneys are not going to give you advice over a message board for a number of reasons related to standards of professional responsibility.

While it's wonderful that you're a student and that you volunteer, you really can't carry over "good deeds" into the breakage of any laws and call it even. Really want to go and get your vaporizer back? Give them a call, I'm sure the cops will be happy to test it for residue and subsequently charge you with whatever applicable possession laws apply. Again, not sure how it works in Canada, but it sounds like these cops let you off easy.

Next time, either don't do it, or do it where you aren't going to get caught if you insist on doing it. As for demands that no one respond unless they're giving you legal advice, eat it. This is a public forum and you're opening yourself up to public judgment of your behavior by posting it. Request the thread deleted and PM the lawyers on the board if you don't want to hear it.

I'll grant you that walking around with a balloon full of vapor is awesome, but you haven't experienced marijuana until you've sucked in ice cold vapor. It literally tastes like candy.

I think they know as well as I do if I show up in court and give a legitimate reason that I'll get it back.
There are alot of cops who think what they're doing is right, but that doesn't explain the acquittals and release of seized paraphernalia.

If you KNOW they lied, and you CAN get it back, then quit fucking asking us for help and get a real lawyer to help you get it back.

Dude, we're not using any "moral compass". The law says they have the right to seize anything used to use drugs (pipes, needles, etc...) and that they don't need to return it. If you keep trying to get it back they'll test if for pot residue, come up positive and then still keep it. If you make their lives miserable they'll find something drug related to charge you with.
