Got nauseous playing in 1080i, but fine in 720p, anyone know why?

Im not sure if this is the appropriate forum, (maybe video instead?) but if any of you have an answer or theory I'd like to hear it.

My girlfriend and I have been playing LA Noire for some time at 720p on her non-hdmi Olevia LCD TV. Because it didn't have hdmi I just assumed it couldn't do anything above 720p. However when I found out you could do 1080i over component I upped the resolution. Within 15 minutes, both of us felt a little sick running around the Hobo village and I suspected the resolution change.

We stopped and I secretly switched it back to 720p. When we started up again, we were both fine. Any explanations?

EDIT: Also this is the first time its happened, I don't get motion sickness during FPS games or anything else like that, if it matters.

that would be my only guess - i get headaches if i see a lot of screen tearing.

Probably just a weird occurrence. Happens to me with Borderlands (at least PC) because of the FoV...get sick. Never happened to me on any other game though.

I can't stand screen tears, always turned on v-sync when I was a heavy pc gamer.

Its weird since when I play in 1080p on my Sony 42 its fine, but yeah hopefully this issue is just limited to this game.

Could be a scaler/processor/de interlace issue in the display introducing input lag or just a crappy motion stream.

Interlaced signals can cause flickering, especially on lower end LCDs. Could be you're just sensitive to it.
