Any of you guys know the reason why gas prices go up in the summer? Is there a particular reason for it?
Reformulated gasoline. Typically adds about $0.10/gallon. It's meant to reduce pollutants during the hot summer months, esp. to reduce ozone.
That and summer driving raises demand for gasoline.
To me, that's a bullsh*t reason.
People drive a LOT more miles in their daily commute than on an occasional road trip because there are just so many more people driving in rush hour each day than are driving down I-95 to Florida. And, those people driving at rush hour are sitting in stop-and-go traffic burning more fuel than those cruising at highway speeds.
