The rig is in the sig, and the question is: What would you do with $200? Mobo? (the P965 is pretty old) Graphics card? (the 4850 looks nice) CPU? (mmm e8400)

Can't decide, so what to do?

I play Oblivion, Crysis, and SoaSE. I have an HDTV card, so I watch TV. Other than that I just write a lot.

What's the point in getting a Crossfire board? I think the money would be best saved of all things, your rig might feel inadequate now but if you can resist the urge and save a bit more you could get a 4870 1gb or something a little later on, then sell the 3870 and save towards an E8400. At least that's what I'd do.

yeah i like krnmastrsgt's idea. btw i'd like to add that i am saving money instead of blowing my whole tax return i am only spending about 20% of it. there is no way i'm blowing a grand with the way things are going.

Read last post. 80% is going that way. I have to satisfy the itch with the other 20%.

Mail it to me in small nonsequential bills in a padded envelope ... oh, wait, advice is provided free here.

GTX 260 or 1GB 4870

Your cpu/mobo/ram play nice together & are more than adequate, GPU is the only thing you can upgrade where you will actually notice the difference.

personally I don't think any upgrade for your current PC is necessary...upgrading the mobo would let you tell people you just got a new motherboard and then your computer will still perform exactly as it's doing currently.

I would look at getting some nicer speakers, Kb/mouse combo or case/psu.

My prob with that is I've about hit the wall with the Monitor, KB&M, and case. Where as you guys may not think it's great, I love my 22" LCD, Logitech Wave Wireless desktop, and my Gigabyte Aurora Tower. Maybe I'll just buy some new games.... who knows.

I made a suggestion above for dealing with that $200...

Seriously, as in the second part of my comment above, pick up a GTX 260 or 1GB 4870. Either of those will be a nice bump up from your current 3870 (you can turn on some AA @ 1680x1050 then).
