Got the wrong CPU

I ordered an Athlon 64 3200+ from Zipzoomfly and it came today. However, it looks like I got the wrong one. I ordered the one with the BP stepping and the one I got has BW. So, basically I got an E6 instead of an E4. Would it be worth sending it back or should I just keep it? I was really wanting to overclock this a lot and I've heard the E6 doesn't overclock well at all.

How high of an overclock are you looking for? I built a PC for a friend and overclocked an E6 3200+ to 2.4 GHz w/ 1.44V on stock HS. It depends on how high you want to go I guess.

Does ZZF even guarantee specific revisions? I don't think they do. I say give it a shot...my E6 does 2.6...not great but for the price is it really worth an extra 100 mhz?

I was hoping to reach 2.5Ghz if possible. I don't know exactly what ZZF's policy is on this. I did however choose the CPU that was labeled as BP on their site. The BW was actually more expensive.

As E6 is the latest revision, it is possible that they are simply out of the E4 version, so even if you send yours back, you would not be able to get an E4. They probably think that they are doing you a favor by sending you the latest, priciest E6 for the same price as the E4.

"E6 doesn't overclock well at all" - who'd you hear THAT one from?

I, along with quite a few other DFI nF3 people, recently got into the new S754 Venice 3000, which is an E6 core. So far at least 6-7 people have gotten over 2.6Ghz at LEAST! One guy has had his at 2.9Ghz Prime stable!

I've had mine up to 2.8Ghz, and it's Prime stable at 2.65Ghz so far. (Still working on 2.7..)

So yah, I'd definitely give it a shot!

Wow! Those are some good results. I think I'm gonna just keep it. I don't really feel like going through the hassel of sending it back anyway. Anybody have some recommendations for good overclocking memory? How well does the standard Corsair XMS memory overclock?
