Underestimating Dumb Ass. Part of the problem with the term flu is that it is used both as a generic term for damn near any viral illness with a fever and is also used for a severe viral pneumonia. Medical people are just as inaccurate about using the term as the general public. The influenza virus directly and indirectly kills 20,000 people (depending on the circulating strain and year) and leads to the hospitalization of 200,000 in the US each year. Influenza is a nasty lung illness. And what is stomach ‘flu’? No such thing.

I woke up with a migraine this morning, and I read this thread last night. Clearly, reading the stupidity residing here causes migraines.

Never had the flu shot and never will, why would you let someone infect you on purpose. Any time i get sick, i can over come it quickly and without going to a doctor.

1. Eat/stay healthy
2. Don't touch your face when outside
3. Wash your hands/carry wipes/gel, etc.

12 hours of hell and power puking, 12 hours of sleep, a day or so of recovery, then back to normal. They call it the 24 hour flu for a reason. It generally last's 24 hours. I rather go through that then have a runny nose, coughing, sneezing, headache, sinus congestion, etc... dragging on for weeks and weeks.

The flu is overrated, it's not as bad as the media wants you to think. There are many worse things you can catch such as strep throat, a cold, shingles, C Diff etc

You post such stupid stuff sometime. What you speak of is the norovirus. 24 hours of misery but then you move on. I got it this year. I's got NOTHING to do with the flu.

If you want to stay healthy here are proven steps you can take:

Wash your hands 5 times a day.
Keep your hands away from your face.
Get the flu shot. It's effectiveness is about 60%.
Nothing else will have any effect on the fact that you get the flu or not. Your general health will determine how quickly you get over it if you get it.

I got my shot this year, no flu yet.
