You didn't have to get in front of him. The three second following distance is not an invitation to get in front of him.

if he is trying to keep a safe stopping distance and you take advantage of that, i think he has a right to be upset. if your turn was that close, you probably should have already been over.

I hate people that find it necessary to speed up to get in front of me so they can hurry up and make their turn. Why can't they wait and get behind me to make their turn? I would have given you the bird too.

Sorry, you should have waited in line like everyone else. Of course, I'm going to prevent you from getting over at the last second.
I disagree. Unless there is an established line to use a lane (for an exit or turn), you should let the person in. If there
is a line, then I never let the fucker in, he can wait in line like everyone else. Sounds to me like the OP was in the left lane and needed to be in the right lane to make the turn, in other words, he only needed to use the right lane for a second.
The most enraging thing i've ever seen while driving is when I tried to pass an SUV that was going under the speed limit. Just as I was overtaking him, the SUV sped up, cut me off, and then slowed down to the same speed as the other two highway lanes (both were sluggish). I generally don't look for revenge on the road because it's far too dangerous, but this time I did, I finally got past him and made sure he spent some miles well under the speed limit.
