Last month I started the trial for gottaplay.com, they are a company just like gamefly. After getting a game I decided that I didn't have time for the service. So, I sent the game back and cancelled. This was around 1-8-07. Fast forward to today, I notice there is a charge on my credit card for $50.00. No big deal I understand if they don't get the game back I may be charged. I call them to see whats going on, the lady I speak to tells me that it was close to the holidays so the mail may be slow. The charge will be refunded when they recieve the game.

Before calling them I sent an email:

Detail:Earlier this month I sent back a game to GottaPlay, I waited a few days and later cancelled my account. I have been charged the $50 saying the game never arrived. So now apparently I "bought" the game yet I sent it back LONG ago. Is there anything that can be done? How is this issue normally handled?


I recieve a reply: (note: this is AFTER I called)

Dear Thomas,
Thank you for sending us your inquiry.

After reviewing your account, our records indicate that we were attempting to charge your credit card for an unreturned game fee of $50.00 on 1/25/2007.Your credit card was declined on several attempts. Therefore, your account was sent to collections.
If there is anything else I can do to make your GottaPlay experience better, please let me know.

Ok this is BS, I KNOW the charge went through I AM LOOKING AT THE CHARGE ON MY BANK'S SITE!!

I wanted to warn you all. This may just be a misunderstanding but as it stands so far this company looks VERY shady. I would advise anyone to be *very* cautious when trying them out.

I can understand the charge, I read their agreement before I signed up. However, to say that they didn't charge it, that they sent my account to collections, when this is clearly not the case, is wrong!
