GPS for European use

Hey guys, I'm gonna be moving to Spain in January, and after looking at a lot of the Black Friday ads, I thought I might get myself a GPS navigator. There is a few that are actually on sale for about 99 bucks (tomtom 1, MIo) along with a bunch of other options. heck this list out (under electronics) http://www.blackfriday.info/ad...y-black-friday-ad.html .

My question is the following:

I will be moving to spain, and I just cheked the tomtom site and saw that the urope maps are close to $200! I went on btjunkie and saw that there are many maps for download there. Would I be able to use any of those maps? What should I do? what gps should I buy? I dont need anything fancy, just something that will get the job done when going places Ive never been to. Please help

Wait and buy local. Buying extra maps is always expensive.

With the dollar so low right now, I think you should pick up something like the tomtom one before you leave. Buying anything over there will most likely cost you just as much as the gps and map upgrade here. You may be able to get a discounted/used map disc over there. Or maybe buy one and call or email tomtom and tell them you are moving to Spain and see if they will give you the map pack free or for a discounted price.

Second that!

TomTom charge $250+ on European map.
Garmin Charge $299 on European map.

Doesn't matter how you cut it, still not quite economical.

The only alternative I can think of will be Nuvi 270 which still cost you around $350 online.
It does come w/ entire European and NA map.

OK. I looked it up and you can get the Tom Tom maps for ?139 in PC CITY (think best buy).

The Garmiin Nuvi 200 is ?180.
