GPS in the car problem

I have a problem with a GPS Mio 520.

The GPS had a power cable that connects it to the lighter for power input using the GPS mini USB port and it was working.

I lost that power cable and bought another one.

Now when I connect the GPS to the lighter in the car the GPS thinks it's connected to a computer and the GPS stops working, it stuck in a computer mode screen which prevents me from using the GPS.

Is there a way to change something in the cable so the GPS won't go into computer mode when connecting it to the lighter in the car?

I had a serious issue with my TomTom ONE XL and the car charger it came with. It would always short out when I plugged it into the lighter, and I had to reset it. What I did was get another car charger, and that helped.

Both of our situations point to faulty individual car charger cables. Try hooking your cord up to someone else's Mio and see if its the cord, or your device.

TomTom and Mio might suffer from technical deficiencies, but the Tele Atlas maps are worth it IMO.

You might have to buy one specifically made for your GPS. I think I read something about that for the Magellan I got recently.
