Cool man. Let us know how it works out for you. Speculation and text doesn't trump the experience itself! I don't listen to aloof TomTom criticisms because I own 3 and they're perfectly functional and badass. (ONE v3, ONE LE, ONE XL)

I ended up with the Nuvi 200 because of you. Thanks for the great info. I went to garmins website and the latest version of firmware in the webupdater software is ver. 2.4.1 for windows. I read in the forum you said to stay away from 2.4 to 2.9 and stick with the newest one which you said was a 3.6. But there isn't any 3.6 versions. Is there a different website i can find the 3.6 ver.? Is there any other updates that are available for the nuvi 200? I went to the website they have tons of other updates but I can't seem to find one for the nuvi 200.

just download the webupdater. It will have all the update ready instead of seaching for any update.

Do you prefer the Magellan 3225 or the Garmin Nuvi 200?

Costco has the 3225 for $150 (+tax), and amazon has the nuvi 200 for $165. Was wondering which one is the better choice.

EDIT: Just noticed no text to speech on the nuvi. That rules that one out.

Talk to timekeeper for that one. He knows a lot or seems to know a lot about gps systems. If you haven't done so yet scroll in the middle and he gives a comparison for the tomtom vs nuvi200.

I did down load the webupdater. It's giving me a choice of which to update. GPS chipset type G and Text, british english. I just check the two and that's it I assume.

Also, how can I check if I have the lastest software?

if there isn't any more firmware prompt, then you are on the newest.
G = Sirf III chipset. ( your nuvi come w/ the SirF III )
B = Bravo chipset.
M = MTK ( I have review on 260 Bravo and 260 MTK, which I found MTK is seriously much better chipset w/ faster acqusition and positioning accuracy)

How do the Nuvi "W" models stack up to the non-"W" models? I was looking at the 200 and I would much prefer the 4.3 "W" screen. Are the features the same on both?

both W and non-W has exactly the same function.
250W = 250 + Widescreen.
200W = 200 + Widescreen.
They even share exact 1250mAh battery and 4ohm speakers.

ONLY different in term of function is that "W" version has Satallite info page.

side note: All 2xx W vesion seems to come w/ Sirf III chipset. ( I have test several 2xxW version and all of them come w/ Sirf chipset )

2xx series on other hand, earlier version come w/ the Sirf chip.
Almost all the chip come out 4th quarter of 2007 equipped w/ Bravo chip.
260 specifically, start shipped out MTK chipset.

I'd almost get a TomTom for the fact that you can add in John Cleese's voice to the ONE 3rd ed.

Nuvi sounds impressive, but, whats fun about it?
