Hola everyone. I have so many questions recently I feel like a n00b! Anyways, as some of you have already read, I'm still in the process of building a mid-level workstation that I will be doing digital content creation, in particular, modding games using gMax, creating textures in Photoshop, and doing a bit of pixel pushing. My question to you is, does a faster processer mean better perfomance when dealing which such a video card as the PNY nVidia Quadro4 980 XGL? The reason is that I was thinking on purchasing the AMD Athlon XP 2100 and doing a bit of overclocking, perhaps up to 2 gig or so, which would put me at the XP 2700 level. The only problem, well, not really a problem as much as a quirk, is that Discreet (maker of 3D Studio Max, and what I'll be using, the free gMax) says they optimize their programs for the P4's, and the lowest I would get would be the 2.53GHz and that is still $180 or so dollars, plus the motherboards tend to be more as well. So really what I think I'm trying to ask in all this banter is, for a mid-range workstation using gMax and Photoshop, do MHz matter all that much when I have a near top-of-the-line GPU? Sorry for such a long post, I'm a creative writing major, hehe.
