Hi,
I need to buy a new graphic card for my machine.
My system specifications are as follows:

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 2.20GHz
Current Graphics Card: Onboard chip Intel 945G
Display Resolution: 1024x768
Power Supply Unit: I have no idea.
Case Specifications: Low profile basic Zebronics case

Purchase Details:
Budget: Keep it as low as possible. Not planned about the budget. Like it should be below 5 thousand rupees.
Preferences: VGA model [Or I will have to use an adapter.]
Crossfire or SLI: No
Looked at a product(s):
• HIS AMD/ATI Radeon HD 6670 1 GB GDDR5 [Very expensive though]
• HIS AMD/ATI Radeon HD 5450 1 GB DDR3 [The right price!]
Needs: I run a hackintosh, but VLC won't play videos on it, shows some OpenGL error; So I think I NEED a graphic card.
I even dual boot Windows, so I want to play some GOOD games. Like Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, Black Ops 2 and Crysis 3.
Overclocking: If needs be, I will.

here's some in your price range...

i would go for the hd7770 cost's a lil more but be worth it...you could also look into used cards to get more power for your money...

5 thousand rupees is only like 92$ so kinda hard to get a card for crysis 3 and other high end games....

here's a refurb 6670 for 90$....has free shipping tho

your cpu isn't the best gamer either : /

At that rez and cpu no more than a 7750. you'll probably be all right with the other games you listed , but Crysis 3 is gonna chew that cpu up and spit it back at you.

Don't bother with the 5450 - it is utter rubbish for gaming. I honestly wouldn't expect it to be much better than your integrated graphics, so buying it would be a waste of money for you. I'd go for that HD 6670, or potentially an NVidia GTS 450- it's a bit above your budget, but Flipkart have it for 5800 Rs .

GTS 450 is ideal for his old, outdated CPU... It can handle it and use full potential, he could probavly play Battlefield 3 at 1080p30fpsLow-Medium or 720p60fpsMedium

I hate to be that guy, but, I would recommend against updating pieces in that rig of yours. Considering that you want to play some resource intense games (IE crysis 3) you are better off saving your money for a whole new build with more recent hardware.

HD 5450?!? It's NOT a gaming card!

Also, if you go for 6670, 6770, or 7750, or whatever, just make sure it has GDDR5 instead of DDR3. HUGE MASSIVE DIFFERENCE.

Oh heck, I only just noticed that you have a low profile case. By that, do you mean it has half height PCIe slots? In that case, you're suddenly very limited in what you can use. Pretty much all the cards we recommended won't work.

Off the top of my head, the only half-height card which I can think of that is any good for gaming is the HD7750. I'm probably forgetting some others, but the choice is limited.

Not true NTMBK; 6670; 6770 and 7750 all come in low profile cards; but they tend to be a little more money.....

I think I have to agree with Delta here. Don't upgrade this machine.....

Save; and with richland literly coming out tomorrow; you have a very decent system for about 12-13k ru.....

Just depends on how much top end richland will be....

I highly doubt you'll get a good experience with Crysis 3 on that machine even at that low resolution. I cannot comment on the other games you mentioned.

Okay, lets put Crysis 3 aside. What if I want to play games like FIFA 13 and Call of Duty on it? I think that my mobo has a PCI port and a PCI x16 port. I don't know the versions. But my motherboard is Gigabyte 945GCM-S2C. Tell me a basic graphic card to play the above mentioned games on 1024x768

My cabinet looks a bit like this:

Ah, that doesn't look like a slimline case- you should be fine with most graphics cards. Hopefully the power supply shouldn't be an issue for any of these low-power-use graphics cards. It's still something to check, though- open your case up, and see if you can find any spare PCIe power connectors which aren't in use. They look like this:

If there aren't any of those, take a look for some Molex connectors:

And take a look on the side of your power supply, see if there is a sticker describing what power it is (how many watts).

Most likely best card though will stretch his budget completely will be 7750 - but 6670 would also be a decent card for his resolution.

You'll be able to play mid-low settings; though as I said; I don't think you should upgrade this system and just save for a new one.....

1. I am 15 years old.
2. I don't buy stuff, my dad does.
3. I'll buy this GPU thing on my own.
4. Yes, I have an open and free molex connector, unused PCI-x16 port and ununsed PCI port.
5. Can you tell me what PCI version does my motherboard support? Like which ones are compatible with GA-945GCM-S2C? [PCI 2.0? 2.1?]

Don't know about PCIe connectors, didn't open the case actually, but assuming that I have a PCIe port, then there must be a power connector too?
Guys please check all these details regarding ports stuff according to my mobo.
As mentioned earlier, its GA-945GCM-S2C.

Not necessarily- the number of PCIe ports is determined by your motherboard, but the number of power connectors is determined by the power supply.

Okay. Then how about we consider the molex connector? I'm sure I have one that is free. /
UPDATE - I need the card for light gaming. Like FIFA and Need For Speed. Sometimes Modern Warfare and Black Ops too.

As I said - 6670 will do light gaming at that rez med settings......7750 will do them at high....

6670 seems the top of your budget - if you can find 7750 for the same price jump that

Buy a second hand console, don't bother buying a GPU for that outdated system.
