I've been playing with this decision back and forth in my head..good thing I only applied to two schools Got admitted with funding to both, for the purposes of this discussion we will say its equal

UT-Austin:
#12 overall engr, #12 electrical engineering
Great city, I know people (although most of my friends are leaving )
Lots of girls on campus
Great place to do outdoor activites (I run a lot) -
Rival school from where I go to undergrad (Texas A&M) - i doubt anybody cares though
Big plus: All I am required to do for my money is take 9 hours of class for two years

Georgia Tech:
#4 overall engr, #6 electrical engineering
Pretty cool city, everybody seems nice that I met (but I don't know anybody)
No girls on campus - but lots in the city
Better school in my EE interest area - analog/wireless design (~15 professors vs. 2)
More spread out city, hard to live near bars & outdoor activities??
Will be required to do research or TA for my assistanship

And any other pro/cons about why i should choose one or the other?

Austin owns, but since you're aggy, go to GT.
j/p, why didn't you apply to tamu? don't they have a good engineering program?

Go to the school with professors in your field. I can't believe anything else would be a major consideration.

Go to Georgia Tech. You will be at the top of any resume pile in the south, and competetive nationally.

Georgia Tech, well actually UT Austin is a great grad school as well, its a toss up, look at your specialization, for eg if you are interested in VLSI is UT better than Ga tech or if you are interested in Comp Arch, Communications, etc , which school has better professors, research institutes, I did my MS in CS , for that Ga tech is probably just a tad better than Austin

If you're interested in girls, Georgia State is practically next door to GT. Plenty of women there. Fairly easy to get around downtown too with MARTA. Not the best transit system in the world but it will get you to the party spots.

I would pick GT. Better school overall, a lot more professors in your interest. Think long term, you will be at grad school for around 4 years anyways. Think about your career 4 years from now.

I did my undergrad here at UT, and am doing my graduate work here too. Let me put it this way: it doesn't really matter where you get your degree as long as it's accredited, just as long as your research is good. However, I'm not sure if the MSEE program requires any research.

My best friend from HS went to GT and he has told me how many times he regretted the decision. Don't get me wrong, GT has an excellent program that's very well respected, but UT not some peanuts school like some people here are making it out to be. Keep in mind the petroleum engineering department has been number 1 in the world for some years now. I'd say come to UT, I love Austin, and the degree is pretty invaluable.
