How did you guys feel? Graduation was awesome. I drove down to VA yesterday and it took forever. When I got here and unpacked, I realized that I'm really an adult now.

I have 3 job interviews this week. I'm happy and sad at the same time.

How did you guys feel?

I had my job secured by fall semester of senior year.

Then again, I piss excellence.

Congratulations... Did that twice in the past 5 years -- don't think very highly of it anymore.

Job hunting should start at least by your junior year.

That doesnt make sense. Employers are looking to hire in the next few months, not a year or two down the line.

Ive never gone a month without having a job while In school and ive had really impressive internship work.

Im looking for a big girl job now.

Congratulations. There was nothing quite like it for me.

False. Educational status does not confer adulthood. In fact, most people under 30 are still not quite 'adults' these days. For some reason it's taking people longer and longer to actually mature.

Thanks, I'm pretty excited! I have some interviews coming up for some pretty good jobs. Many of them waited for me to graduate which was cool. They could have just passed me up.

I graduated university at a really bad time. Fall 2008. So needless to say, I didn't feel very good about it.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I graduated in Fall 2009, and felt similar pain. The company I interned at just laid off a bunch of workers, so my chances of getting a job were pretty slim. Especially since I fucked around so much at that internship. I was pretty much not even an option to be hired, haha.

I had to enroll as a master's student just so I could get another internship. I got re-hired back at my old company, but in a completely different department. I got exposed to a lot more software development and I worked a lot harder. This paid off as I received another internship at another company, and then was hired full-time.

Lots will hire a year down the line, however I think many people are referring to internship -> full time upon graduation.

That said, I didn't even think about a job when I graduated. Hell, I didn't even search. I was promoted to corporate from my side job that I had all through college.

Take it easy though, life starts to suck after college. All you have to look forward to are bills and a couple of vacations.

i graduated in may and didn't start looking for a "real" job until like august. i had a job by september. i wanted to have 1 last summer where i wasn't working a 9-5 job so i could still have fun. i was working my grocery store job for like 30-40 hours a week though.

once you get a job in your field, time starts to FLY!

my only suggestion would be now that you will start making real money, save up some money and splurge on some awesome memorable vacations.

I already had my career job while in college. This was in the 80s tho and IT was just becoming a big thing so I got in at the perfect time. Congrats and good luck to you!

I graduated in May 2008, and already had a full time gig locked up. It was awesome because I started to contribute to my 401k pretty much at the bottom of the market.

OP, what was your major?

Media and Communication Technology. Pretty much a BS major. However, because Michigan State is such a prestigious school, I was able to use that degree to break into Networking IT and ended up with some pretty sweet connections and internship experience....

So, I guess the degree wasn't really BS. I wish they had a better IT program, but, it is what it is.

Maybe you can relax a little now.

I like it so much better when I have just work and no school. I actually get to sleep, my weekends are actually weekends, I have time after work, etc.

I started reading a book. Something I didn't have much time for when I was in school since I was required to spend my time reading other things.

Starting a home improvement project with my mom and step dad over the weekend.

I felt great.. Like finally!!! At the same time I was a little scared/sad bc we go to school and follow a routine for so long. Just weird knowing that was ending. I remember I had my 1 yr old daughter and gf, at the tim (current wife), with me and it felt amazing.
