Because it’s a made up standard with no basis in the law or constitution. If your party controls the senate then you get five years worth of nominations. If it doesn’t, you get three.

And honestly why stop at three? The Republicans already hinted at going down to zero years of nominations if Clinton won. That’s the eventual end game for this, after all.

It just seems like it would stand to reason that if some constitutional officers are prevented from performing their duties in the last year of their term that should apply to all elected officials.

No, you get four years of nominations period. Now what happens in Senate belongs to the Senators.

I voiced my opinion, I think it is pretty clear. I also think the Senators need to grow up and quit playing political games on both sides of the Senate.

Is that like if a simple majority vote is allowed for some Federal Judge nominations it should be allowed for all Federal Judge nominations?

That’s a pretty naive thing to say. If the senate is going to arbitrarily decide that the final year of a presidency doesn’t count as John McCain already hinted at it isn’t any more or less arbitrary to decide the other three years don’t count either.

Remember, this final year thing was always a lie made up by Republicans to justify what they were going to do anyway.

I voiced my opinion, I think it is pretty clear. I also think the Senators need to grow up and quit playing political games on both sides of the Senate.

Ahh, the eternal #bothsides. Only one side is playing political games when it comes to judges and it’s the republicans. They have repeatedly violated the norms and agreements they signed on to and they’re counting on you to ensure they don’t pay a price for it.

Absolutely, a simple majority should be required for everything in the senate. I believe the filibuster should be abolished as it’s not like we need the Senate to be even less democratic than it already is. It has no basis in the constitution, it just comes from a bunch of pompous morons a few centuries back and their idea of what made a gentleman.

What I’m saying makes sense though, right? I mean if we are making up arbitrary term limits for constitutional powers it only stands to reason they should be uniform.

You don't know shit, Vlad. You're out of your element here, and you're not going to have a pleasant time trying to make your weekly quotas on these boards.

So best you fuck off now and go try to earn your daily beet rations by posting on 4Chan or The Right Stuff or the Daily Caller, where the morons of the internet dwell.
Is it really productive to launch into the Vlad shit with every Trumper? I know we have a stack of shills here, this dude's musings are only half coherent, and the recent return to activity is suspect... but it's a 15yo account and his general outlook is fairly consistent over its history. People did vote for Trump, so you gotta face the reality there's a load of huffy dug-in "conservatives" out there that you actually have to deal with.

provide proof that dems was to give illegal immigrants the right to vote.

once again you show that you are a brainless idiot moron.

Quite sure you will have some lame excuse as to why my comment and/or article is worthless...go ahead, show your stuff...lol

By the way, your choice of words to describe my character makes a person wonder how you talk to your wife and kids...sad...

If you look there are more instances to prove my comment...really not worth my time or effort...with your mindset it won't matter anyway.

nothing wrong here...you just don't want to admit it or acknowledge the fact that it is true. Kinda like CNN providing people with CORRECT info as it pertains to the wall. Well, wait a minute, your roving reporter, Acosta was selling Trump's talking points, I stand corrected. But then we know he is just a disrespectful, arrogant and useless idiot. Sometimes people have a hard time seeing a 2 dollar bill when its right in front of them. That seems to apply here.

There are many characteristics that I don't appreciate coming from Trump, but I really hate to see people disrespect the office of the President. Acosta and his left wings comrades lead the pack.....glad to see and hear Conway school Acosta on his behavior although he did take it like a man.

Media anymore, for the most part, takes sides. Whether it be left or right. Far more outlets are blue....they have a tendency to let demo's slide when they make a mistake. Ex- "If you like your doctor you can keep him". Obama knew that was a lie when he said it. "Will have more flexibility when I get elected" to a Russian diplomat. Were any of you demo's crying and belly-aching over that the way you do Trump? Don't think so....Objective journalism is dead...period.

You demo's have had almost 2 years in trying to nail Trump....you would think they would of come up with something by now. 2 years, what does that tell you....NOTHING THERE! Muellar is running out of time.

If Trump would of said something like Obama did to the Russian you demo's would be on it like stink on feces. Our system has a double standard as you well know. Most Americans know this and its going to have an effect in the 2020 elections.

If you think demo's aren't wanting illegals to vote YOU show me something that isn't bias and demonstrates said theory. California is pushing that very idea. Enough said for now....

I agree that they should be uniform but the Senators will not allow it.

Yes both sides do it no matter how much you like to down play that fact as if it is false with your little hash tag ( #bothsides ). Thinking it isn't false is just your bias.

One day Graham is so far out to lunch I can't believe it and the next he's challenging the President. In order to calm my mind of the confusion this causes me, I've settled on considering him to be something like an idiot savant.

Bitek asked a question:

"So conservatives, when does the McConnell Rule kick in?"

I answered the question with my opinion as to when it should apply.

" IMO, with less than twelve months remaining the SCOTUS should be left for the next President. "

I did not speculate on what could or might happen. Knowing the douche bags on both sides of the aisle in DC anything could happen.

So you can keep your smart ass comments to yourself.

"IMO, we should just change the law as spelled out in the constitution, just like that, for some reasons."

It’s an opinion piece written at a highly rightwing biased site with ties to right wing think tanks. That makes the article suspect but not necessarily wrong.

After reading it the author states many things as facts but provides no links not even to the Rasmussen poll which I had to go find myself.

The poll doesn’t make the distinction between wanting illegal immigrants to vote for democrats to win vs believing that people who live and are taxed by a government should have a say in that government, (no taxation without representation)

Acosta? What is this in response?

From your comment I can’t tell if you know that a $2 bill is actually a thing or not. Folks have made that mistake here more than once surprisingly.

There are many characteristics that I don't appreciate coming from Trump, but I really hate to see people disrespect the office of the President. Acosta and his left wings comrades lead the pack.....glad to see and hear Conway school Acosta on his behavior although he did take it like a man.
Interesting. You say there are things you dislike about Trump, most likely to try and come across as reasonable, yet have not provided anything specifically. You do however jump on “disrespecting the office of the President” and target Acosta and CNN again. Strangely I still have no idea what you are referring to.

Disrespecting the office of the President is a funny thing for a conservative to get upset about considering their treatment of the office during the Obama years and of course the behavior in office of your preferred candidate.

Media anymore, for the most part, takes sides. Whether it be left or right. Far more outlets are blue....they have a tendency to let demo's slide when they make a mistake.
Ah yes the well known facts have a liberal bias problem many conservatives have.

Ah yes. Obama being wrong about keeping your doctor (although my family kept ours). Interesting you seemed to be concerned about supposed Obama lies yet have yet to indicate you have any concern about Trumps constant lying.

Also no stated concern about Trump telling Russian diplomats in the Oval Office that firing Comey took the heat off?

It’s almost like you feel lying and sketchy behavior is fine if there’s an “R” in front of their name.

You demo's have had almost 2 years in trying to nail Trump....you would think they would of come up with something by now. 2 years, what does that tell you....NOTHING THERE! Muellar is running out of time.
You see I find it concerning that you are posting things that are just outright false.

It truly seems you are either not posting in good faith or are horribly misinformed, or both.

If Trump would of said something like Obama did to the Russian you demo's would be on it like stink on feces. Our system has a double standard as you well know. Most Americans know this and its going to have an effect in the 2020 elections.

Context and behavior matters. US Russian relations were at a low point after GWB. Putin has stepped back to the prime minister role for a while and the Dems were trying to improve relations while the GOP was not interested. When Russia became more belligerent in the Ukraine and attacked our elections Obama stepped up with sanctions and other measures.

Trump and his election committee on the other hand single handedly changed the GOPs position on Russia and the Ukraine and has continued with a policy of obsequiousness to Putin.

This doesn’t seem to bother you either.

If you think demo's aren't wanting illegals to vote YOU show me something that isn't bias and demonstrates said theory. California is pushing that very idea. Enough said for now....
You’ve asserted CA is pushing for illegals to vote. They have passed laws allowing illegals to vote in local elections not federal. States rights issue

But the fact is the number of illegal immigrants voting in federal elections is effectively 0.

https://www.ice.gov/news/releases/19-foreign-nationals-indicted-illegally-voting-2016-elections

19 illegal immigrants were found to have voted out of 128,824,246 votes cast for a grand total of 0.0000147% of the vote.

It’s time for you to take some personal responsibility and start taking a critical eye to how you form your opinions. Just because it tells you what you want to hear doesn’t mean it’s correct.

Why do you think Dems are encouraging and actively helping illegal aliens to come and stay in the country? They want their manipulated census numbers which gives them more seats in Congress and more control of the Federal government and tax money. Illegal aliens essentially become indentured servants because they typically don't have the language or professional skills to rise above poverty levels and are forced to be nothing more but zoo specimens to be petted and paraded around by Liberals when they wish to feel good. It's easy to implement a strong central government when the citizens become heavily dependent on it. It's been proven that Mexico was providing money and support to ensure as many Mexican nationals as possible became US citizens in time to register to vote for the 2016 election. Remittance payments are a multi billion dollar injection of capital to Mexico.

Interesting theory you have that Dems are actively helping illegals to come and stay in the country. Put aside that bullshit George Soros financed a caravan got 11 people murdered in Pittsburgh, its companies hiring illegals and Trump has proposed no punishments for these companies because its their base.

You believe Dems are trying to skew census totals yet you are unwilling to believe Republicans are disenfranchising minority voters and that has been PROVEN many times in court.

Fox does owe apology for that graphic. That was horrid.
I'm sure your response would be different if MSNBC put out onto the chyron Trump shot in the head by an assassin. You would say staff is rooting for his death.
