You said it yourself...with Reid changing the rules (60 to majority) to stack federal judges. McConnell, as his perogative, chose to wait and let the new president make his choice to fill the position...that choice was within his role as leader of the senate. Obama was on his last leg.

Your thoughts on McConnell moving the filibuster is your opinion only....Reid changed the rules so now the dem's need to accept what their party and leaders did. Saying that McConnell would of done it is pure speculation on your part and plays no part in this.

You bring up a good point Dawp, the EC was won by President Trump. Now you do know that each state has X amount of electoral votes (depending on state size)? In each state THE PEOPLE vote for their respective candidate. There are a total of 538 electoral votes in the U.S. Trump earned 306 electoral votes from THE PEOPLE in each respective states and whoever wins the popular vote wins the electoral vote. HC won 232 electoral votes from THE PEOPLE in each respective state.

Hillary got schooled...that is why she failed as the democratic nominee for president. I agree, she won the popular vote....so did Gore but Bush won the seat. Unless you demo's can win the upper midwest your ship will not sale.

Now I hope you make an effort to UNDERSTAND how the process is done.

Republicans are doing everything that can to stuff the courts. If you're on that side and want to revel in it, fine. But don't have illusions that they're playing fair to do it.

The rules were not changed in order to confirm Merrick Garland, the Democrats did not change rules in regards to SCOTUS appointments at all.

Reid chose to eliminate the filibuster for non-SCOTUS nominees for one very clear reason:

- there were vacancies on the DC circuit court and if Obama filled them it would switch the court to a majority of Democratic judges.

- McConnell informed Reid that he would filibuster all nominees, regardless of who they were or how qualified they were because he would not allow the court to stop being controlled by Republicans.

Remember, McConnell was doing this back in 2013, meaning he was basically saying Republicans would prevent Obama from staffing the courts for almost his ENTIRE SECOND TERM. That is a level of obstruction without precedent in US history and one they directly threatened the ability of the courts to function. Reid did the only responsible thing. When McConnell abused his power Reid took it away.

As Paratus said though Democrats need to return the favor if/when they can. Expand the size of SCOTUS and confirm a bunch of new justices. The only way Republicans will stop their attacks on our system of government is if they think they will not gain from them.
