I saw a lot of movies in 2008 and save it for the last one to be the best.

Eastwood is vintage in the movie and played the role great. The Asian family living next door made you really get into the story as well.

At first I was not really interested in the flick but got coerced into watching it by my inlaws Christmas day. About 20 minutes in I was hooked and didn't want it to end.

Now let me saw this is not the best movie EVAR but it was the best one I saw in 2008. There are some parts that are a little hokey, there are some racial slurs thrown around so if you are offended by that sort of stuff maybe this isnt the movie for you.

Next on the list to see is Benjamin Button.......

I was able to see the film last week and it was superb. Movies like this are proof you don't need a ton of special effects to tell an incredible story - hell, you don't even need big name actors as these "amateur" (excluding Eastwood) were phenomenal to watch.

Still waiting for Gran Torino to open at our local theatre. I am beginning to wonder if they will even pick it up. I really hope they do, I have been wanting to see this movie since first seeing the previews a few months ago.

It should be in almost every market on Jan 9, 2009. I think the early limited release was so the film could compete for the various 2008 awards.

No it's not. It's about the Hmong family and their Hmong cousin's gang driving around in a souped up white civic.

The movie is about an old, racist, Korean War Veteran who is stuggleing to live with the actions he was forced to take during the war and his relationship (or lack thereof) with his two sons. There IS more, much, much more but lets not go into any spoilers please.

Go see the film!

I cannot compare it to Button as I have not seen it yet. I plan to see it on Friday but no matter what Torino will be my favorite movie of 08 because I will have seen button in 09. I'll compare the two after I see them both

i thought it was WWWAYYYY overhyped and overrated like the majority of clint eastwoods movies.

the acting in the movie is just terrible. the 2 neighbor kids were terrible actors, as were the gangsters in the movie. the white thugged out kid made me laugh he was so bad.

and i just wished the neighbor kid would have at least put some damn water in his hair or something when he woke up, it was all over the place!

the movie wasn't terrible by any means, but FAR from being one of the best movies. but that's pretty typical of all these movies that are up for awards.

Yeah I thought it was really good. The ending wasn't entirely unexpected, but it still satisifed me. I didn't much care for last year's Oscar-hyped films (No Country for Old Men, There Will Be Blood), but I really enjoyed this one.

Haven't seen Benjamin Button or Slumdog Millionaire yet .... but I will agree than Gran Torino is the best movie I've seen it at least a year. IMO Eastwoods best since Unforgiven. This movie has a lot of "heart" in it. Sorta like Bronco Billy and A Perfect World. Fantastic movie, nothing was too surprising throughout the movie, and some of the actors did less than perfect work, but the movie brings out some pretty strong feelings, and it does a damn well job of it too.

I hope this isn't the last great masterpiece from Clint Eastwood. I believe he's still got a swansong or two left in him if he wants.
