grandfather clock

Anyone know how to wind up a grandfather clock? Parents are away, and I need adivce as to how to wind up the grandfather clock.

Insert crank into hole in face. Turn crank until weight nears top of clock. Remove crank. Done.

There's usually a crank or a key somewhere inside (open the door) or on the back and use that to crank in hole in the face. Also, so clocks are wound with the swinging arm. Not sure how that works.

Usually grandfather clock is timed by a pendulum and the pendulum is powered by weights on chains that slowly fall. The one i used to have had another end to the chain hanging down; pull it and the weights get pulled back to the top. My grandfather had one though that had a crank to raise the weights. i suggest not screwing with it until you're parents get back... they'll be less pissed to reset a clock than get it fixed.
