I am never upgrading. I have a 22% discount on top of unlimited but on the new plans it only applies on 5gb data and up. So it'd actually cost me more money to leave unlimited even including phone subsidy.

Just buy new phones on eBay. Picked up me new droid RAZR m for $300 and its great

I imagine in the not-too-distant future Verizon will force everyone off unlimited. Suppose they could do what AT&T did, and throttle people to dialup speeds after some number for people still on 'unlimited'.

Buy your phone's from Craigslist or Swappa. I still have a year left on my Verizon unlimited plan.I have gone from an iPhone 4S, to a Charge, to a Galaxy Nexus, and now to a Galaxy S3. Sell your old phone and subsidize your own upgrade. I sold my Nexus for 250 and bought the GS3 for 275. And I get to keep my unlimited.

I broke 21gb last month as I tether my gs3 at work and we use it for sling box and radio along with sharing internetto the whole place.

Broke 30gb the month before that too lol

I have 8gbs from Google Music alone in 2 weeks. Im at about 22gb half way through the month lol.

Unlimited data saves me from buying a land line internet connection so I save $40 a month there already.

I think if people start tallying their annual cellphone bill, they'll get a wakeup call. Since I have a family plan I split the expenses and just myself I'm spending over $600, and that's with discounts. My dad who barely uses it, has it for convenience/emergencies, is spending over $250.

Once he's off contract I'm gonna do the $80 Page Plus pre-paid for him. As for myself I can't let go of the unlimited data just yet since I've only had this Galaxy Nexus a year.

Just signed up for PagePlus for my wife on their $12/month plan. Shes a light voice user with minimal texting and no data needs. You can't beat PP price and the fact that they piggy back off Verizon's network makes it a no brainer.

PagePlus is pretty awesome. I've been with them for 2 years, and have 4 phones on there, with 2 on the $12/month plan for my sons, and the wife and I both have the $29.99 TNT1200 plan (1200 minutes/3000 texts/250mb data) We've never had a problem with them...

We pay around 220 a month for 5 phones and 4 of them are smart phones on Verizon.

Stop it. Stop it. Stop it.

You are the reason the rest of us have to deal with throttling and caps. The world doesn't need data hogs like you. Mobile networks in their current state simply aren't meant to sustain that much traffic

You're actually the reason I am certain unlimited data is going to go away for everyone, regardless of whether you buy your smartphone unsubsidized or not.

WiFi. Use it.

If even 1 out of 50 users had your kind of usage, these mobile networks would not function.

Using it to provide Internet service to the whole office while streaming HD video with commercials is just wrong.

Majority of my data comes from just music streaming. I dont know how people deal with only 2gb a month. Wifi isnt an option when you're on the road 3 hours of your day.

I'm with Hans007. I buy my phones on eBay through Gazelle. I have just 2 smartphones. I'd switch to another carrier but I'm a female who travels to desolate places a lot alone and need coverage.

I had to buy mine outright since we didn't have any upgrades available on non-smartphone lines. Sucks, but giving up unlimited data is not something I want to do.

I think I've only gone over 2g. A few times and it was maybe 3gb Max. That said the new plans don't work as well with Corp. Discounts. All the ,"hogs" like some in this thread who seem to be proud of it are ruining this for everyone. I liked not having to worry about overages but someone always goes too far at every buffet

I easily use 10gb a month without tethering my phone.I go to the gym for 1.5 hours a day and listen to music and I watch 3-4 episodes of shows im trying to catch up on on net flux every few nights and that easily can eat up over 8gb.

A single hour of sling box will eat up 2 gb

I looked up last month and my brother hit almost 8gb on his iPhone 5 and he doesn't even know what tethering is and he doesn't use sling box either.

I also get 20% off *---*

I broke 4gb last month just from downloading 5 ROMs for my gs3

I don't blame any of you with unlimited data from using it. If I had access to unlimited Verizon 4G, I would take advantage and stream everything pretty much all the time. Oh, the damage I could do with video and music streaming.

It was pretty nice. I'd routinely hit 20-30GB every month and never once got throttled, but that's because since I was unlimited I would never use WIFI. LTE was plenty fast so there was just no need.

Now with the Nexus 4 I do use WIFI at home and work, and I make sure to do stuff like save my Dropbox videos to local while connected to WIFI before heading out. I've had the Nexus for over two weeks now and I'm at just under 300MB. A pretty crazy change.
