"I was no combative, okay? This is a lie. All of this is a lie. Pulled away from him I did not"

Lie you did. Approve, Yoda does not.

Why does the video start in the middle of the encounter? I would have to see the full unedited video of how the woman acted from the moment he pulled her over to see if she deserved what she got.

There is no way she deserved that, period. The only thing a tiny old lady like that can say to a cop that justifies that is "I have a weapon and I'm gonna hurt you" and if she'd said that, he wouldn't have been acting the way he was at the beginning of the clip.

Why couldnt he have just made her comply with some physical force? I'm sure he could easily overpower her and get cuffs on her without her being able to do a damn thing about it.

She clearly defies his lawful orders and resists being handcuffed.

Would you have rather he beat her with a baton? How about throw her to the ground? Or maybe just beat the crap out of her?

Cops do everything they can to AVOID physical contact with suspects because their weapons can be taken and used against them.

It may be shocking to see a 72 year old woman tased but... to me, it is even more shocking to see her defy lawful orders given to her by an officer, then physically resist arrest.

what's he supposed to do when she pushes him, attempts to flee, and continues to attempt to flee even after being obviously warned by the police officer?

He already demonstrated that he had control of the situation when he grabbed her arm. All he had to do was grab the other. No weapons were necessary.

Apprehend her maybe? If he can't handle a 72 year old woman he should look into a career change. Hair dressing might be more his speed :^S

And if she wiggles free and grabs his sidearm?

It's not worth it, no matter who the suspect is. Being a cop isn't about being macho, it's about coming home alive every night. He had the tool to immobilize her with the least harm to her and least danger to himself and he used it. If she didn't want to be treated that way she shouldn't have resisted arrest and defied lawful orders.

She wasn't going for his sidearm. She made absolutely NO threatening gestures. Did you even watch the video.

Yes, I did watch it. Did you? He gave her no chance to by keeping her away from him. That's what you do. You don't wrestle with a suspect if you don't have to. You don't give them an opportunity if you don't have to.

Also, tasing her was LESS violent than throwing her to the ground or beating her with a baton.

She was treated fairly considering how she was acting.

He could have cuffed her. ATOT, this is a 72 year old lady. The man is at least twice the woman's body weight.

Apparently he followed department policy for the situation. I advocate no punishment. I don't see any sign of him being on a power trip or reacting out of anger. She clearly states that she is not complying, he repeatedly tells her what to do (reasonable request, stay there and put your hands behind your back) and he gives her clear warning of the consequences. She had a choice in how to act and he responded accordingly as he was trained.

Um yeah, she pushed him. Towards traffic.

She has to put her hands behind her back in order for him to cuff her, which is exactly what he asked her to do. His other option would have been to slam her to the ground and cuff her by force, probably doing more damage to her.
