Get a cheap AMD setup like someone above mentioned. My bro has a P3 500MHz, some no-name mobo, 256mb of PC133 ram, a 12gig HDD, and some 16mb AGP video card. It does word processing, email, browsing, plays songs, and most games from last year (Empire Earth, War Craft, etc.) It'll probably keep on doing that for 3 or 4 more years.
