I just purchased granite countertops. Bullnose edges about 74 square feet with a bartop. Was $3500 installed w/ tax included. Just FYI in case you want a comparison price.

i don't know about az, but here in wi if it's installed by the furnisher, there is no tax, ie, it's permanent.

if it's purchased by you and you install it, you pay tax on the product.

I would go with a major company like Home Depot or Lowe's, their granite is a better grade than many of the small independents and they will make sure you are happy with the job the installers do. They have a good warranty also. If you watch for sales they are very competative.

Your understanding of contract law is a bit oversimplified. Offer + acceptance usually means that a contract is formed. Whether that contract is enforceable (legally binding) is another matter.

Sounds yeah, it was a crash course. And enforceable contract is one where all the elements of a contract can be proven. From what I understand, two people orally agreeing to something is a valid, legally binding contract. Of course it is difficult to prove that anything was agreed to without a recording or some format of record.

I bought mine thru Lowes. I had/got to visit 2 different granite suppliers. What I thought I wanted was >$100/ft. I found a color very close that was $42/ft ... I was suddenly in love with that color!

The kitchen was laser measured. It fit perfectly.

I did like the stuff that was a little translucent, but at >$1000/ft I decided I wasn't that excited about it. In other words price varies greatly by what granite you get.

The huge slabs at the suppliers look like no big deal until you start understanding just how heavy they are. If one fell on you, you would squashed like a bug!
