Graphical Glitches with Radeon 9800

I've have a Sapphire Radeon 9800 non-pro running a WinXP system for over a year now and maybe the past 7 months I've noticed graphical glitches in some programs. The one's in question are Everquest, American McGee's Alice and Aquamark3. (There may be others but these are the only 3 I have installed that show a problem.

The glitches come in the form of flashing corrupt textures that appear now and again of varying size. I have concidered overheating of the card but even with a cold start as soon as these run the problems begin. Other programs like BF Vietnam, Doom3, Far Cry and 3DMark03 show no problems at all.

The only thing I can think of that seemed to coincide with the glitches was the installation of DX9b. However I am now using DX9c and there is no difference.

Could this be caused by faulty ram on the card or a driver problem? I update drivers with every release but one thing that may be related is that WinXP always manages to install its reference drivers before I get the new drivers installed after I uninstall and reboot.

Just wondering if anyone has had similar problems and possibly solution to this?

Did these glitches show up when you initially installed these programs? It is odd the glitches show up on these titles and not the others. Usually when a vid card starts to go bad, the glitches appear on everything, so I might rule out the card.

It's unfortunate that you can't roll back to DX9a and see if this fixes the problem. See if the glitchy tiitles have updates for DX9c.

The glitches were not initially there in Everquest and Aquamark3, they just appeared one day after updating Dx9. As for the other the other program it was installed afterwards so I'll have a search for any patches that may fix this. Just hoping its not error in the cards ram as I was thinking of selling it on to a friend in the near future.

Try removing your display driver completely, and re-installing. What version of the Catalyst drivers are you using? Perhaps you could update your drivers if you haven't already done so.

I'm using Cats 4.8 at the moment. I update them every release but the problem does not seem to have got any better or worse. I'll try re-instaling again as there is no harm in trying

I've downloaded the driver again and reinstalled but no luck.

However just to give an example of the problem I've grabbed a screen from Aquamark3 that contains a corrupt texture. In the capture the texture below the outlet exhausts is incorrect. However it looks very similar to the texture on the bank in the upper left of the capture (Same texture?). This only flashed on screen for a fraction of a second (I assume its just a single frame that is effected) and the texture was normal again. There are many smaller glitches throughout the demo but this would be the best example.
