For your budget ($100 - $120), I think your best bet will be a new 7600GT. Here is a link to an XFX card at Newegg (Link).

You could always look for something better in the FS/FT forum.

7600gt seems a little more in my budget, i dont worry about heat issues i have 4 internal and one external fan on my comp with case open and i was thinking about purchaseing a new internal fan. the 7600GT seems like it can run good graphics aswell? Im new to the hardware scene with computers so all the info i can get is great.

Interesting, if you compare the 7600GT cards Rockhound and I suggested it presents you with an interesting choice. The EVGA comes with 512MB of GDDR2 and has a core speed of 580Mhz. While the XFX EVGA 7600GT Rockhound linked you to has 256 MB of GDDR3 and a core speed of 560 Mhz. The XFX card is cheaper by $15 if you count the $20 rebate. Personally, I'm leaning towards the XFX card which can probably be overclocked.

Here's a good read on 256MB vs. 512MB cards .....

I agree, the Sapphire X1950GT would be an excellent choice as I mentioned briefly, but it's over his budget and may require a power supply upgrade as well. I asked him about his power supply a few posts down to see if the suggestion is a viable one.

As far as the X1650 Pro, that is slower than the 7600GT. But it is cheap however.

heres the link to the cheaper one

The difference is 20 mhz. No I'm not being a smartass. XFX does this all the time. They release virtually 2 identical models except for the core clocks. The XFX 580 mhz. model appears on NewEgg for $139.

What power supply do you have by the way? Make and Model. Dazed and Confused mentioned as I did the X1950GT which can be had for close to what you would pay for the 7600GT on EBay with the $11.00 shipping.

Take a look at these charts They're handy for a quick comparison of cards. It may help you decide which way to go.

At first glance I would have to say no to the X1950GT unless you want to get a new power supply. It seems everyone has slapped their label on the LC-B450E from Super Talent to Xion. So it appears to be very generic and the amps on the +12v rail(s) appear to be about 22a. This is a guestimate based on one of the dual rails units I found having this model number.

Based on the article you linked to, it mentions that the 512MB only makes a difference for higher end cards "7800GT or higher".

The 7600GT is at best a mid-range card so the extra memory probably won't make a large difference. Plus GDDR3 is a big step up from GDDR2.

Go with the XFX card.

Which is why I said I was leaning toward the XFX Card with GDDR3 as well in my previous post. But this was also part of my thought process. Personally, I hate dealing with rebates as many do, and if you remove the rebate on the XFX, the EVGA 512MB card costs $124.99 and the XFX 256 MB card is $129.99 with a lower default core, although it can likely be overclocked a bit. I guess I'd still go with the XFX at $129.99 because the deciding factor here should be the GDDR3, not the amount of VRAM and $5.00.

Your power supply should handle it fine. The 7600GT doesn't eat much. Good luck.
