Graphics Card Recommendation

Hey newbie here.
I'm in search of a good solid gfx card for casual gaming.
And by this I mean games such as COD4, and TeamFortress2, Left4Dead

Games that require semi-high gfx cards.

Once again I'm a casual gamer, my monitor being fairly small,
I'd be happy if I could run those games mentioned in 1024 X 768 above 60 fps with max settings (of course with screen resolution excluded)

I'm also looking for a card that is affordable. I'm aiming for something under 90-100$

Currently I have a 7300 GS.
2gb Ram
AMD Phenom 8450 Trip Core 2.09 GHz

-I was thinking of a 9500GT. Tell me you suggestions. 9800 seems a lil too expensive for me btw.

that cpu is pretty slow but I would still go better than 9500gt if it was me. a $65 4670 would be a pretty good choice based on your needs.

30A and a 450W PSU minimum is generally what you need for that card. If you cant cover that then look towards a 4670 possibly

he would be so bottlenecked with his cpu at just 1024x768 that the 4850 would really be a waste.

Wasn't really concerned with bottlenecking. If you have 100$ to spend generally you want the best you can get under that price range. It would also give head room for any future upgrades.

But yes, he could do with less.

They have 4770's on sale at Newegg for 95$ shipped.
Thats what I get. 5% slower then the 4850, but much less power needed and much less heat. Chances are better you won't need a new power supply.

The low-power 9800GT is even less power and cheaper. I'd get that.

4770 if you're willing to dish out $95 for the cheapest.

I agree that this for $57 shipped is an excellent bang for the buck:

A 9800GT is nearly the same price as the 4770 and is slower, so I'd only get that if you're interested in even lower power requirements than the 4770 (which is pretty good in itself).

I wonder how fps limited you will be by that cpu, considering both l4d and tf2 are heavily cpu dependant.

I did a little digging on that cpu. It seems as fast as a e7200. Thats not to bad? I think more then enough to push better then a 4670 ha? They seem all to overclock to 2.6 /2.8 also. I don't think the Op actually has a 17 inch monitor ? He can probrobly go to at least to 1280x1024.

only in games that utilize more than 2 cores would the 8450 be as fast as the E7200. in games that dont it would be slower than even the higher clocked Athlon 64 X2 cpus. at 1024x768 I personally wouldnt go with a 4850 but thats just me. if he can bump up to 1280 then that would make the 4850 a reasonable choice though.

How about this? I literally just bought this for myself 3 days ago, shipped today.

1GB 4870

$150 - $15 bing CB - 20 mail in rebate. On top of all that, if you've never done it already, there's a $30 mail in rebate for ebillme.

After all is done and done, thats $87 ($2 shipping) for a 4870.

google ebillme first time 30 for information and the $30 rebate.
