Graphics card 'sleeping' and won't wake up

My old graphics card blew a capacitor, so I've just replaced it with a Palit nVidia GeForce GT 240 512MB card.

My PC isn't set to sleep or hibernate, but does switch off the monitor after 10 minutes of lack of input. Unfortunately it seems that if I leave the PC for a while (longer than 10 minutes though), I can't 'wake' the new graphics card. Windows is alive (I can shut down using the keyboard), just the graphics card isn't outputting anything to the monitor. When I restart, it works okay again.

I'm using Windows 7 64bit and have the latest nVidia drivers installed.

The only setting I could find that I thought might be responsible is "PCI Express Link State Power Management" in the Power Options setting in the control panel. However, I set that to Off, left my PC for a while, then had the same problem.

Any idea what the problem could be?

MAybe there is more to the problem than just your old graphics card?

I never had this problem with my old graphics card. A bit more info - today when the problem occurred I tried disconnecting the monitor (VGA connector) and then plugging it back in, and then it started working again.

I had a client with Nvidia onboard graphics that seemed to have this problem with an Emachines 21.5" LCD 1920x1080. Replaced the VGA cable with a higher-quality one, and she hasn't complained of it happening again.
