What is the best card on the market for $300 or less.

I think you need to meet a minimum post requirement before you can add signature.Awesome things are always around the corner, it depends on your current needs.

I just built a AMD build but I am building a Intel I7 build in August or so on a $1200 budget and I was just seeing what on the current market I could get.

Intel is releasing Haswell around June so I would wait for that.

not true. some of us run large resolution and pair of e-peen gpu is just about enough gpu to get 60fps minimum with all the eye candy.

single gpu - another vote for 7950.

I think the Haswell parts will drop into the existing price brackets so e.g. 3770k for around $300 will be replaced with 4770k for the same price.

The only unkown at this point is if there will be anything new to compete with the 7950 by then. (Or major price drops, but they are unlikely imo)

Haswell comes out this year and then some newer ones in 2015 or so Wikipedia says

At stock speed, the fastest card is the Titan, followed by the 7970, followed by the GTX 680, then the GTX 670, and then the 7950... all within some margin of error.

The only other card within reasonable price/perf is probably the 670 if you can get it cheap enough, the 7970 is fast but does cost quite a bit more than a 7950. And all of them are likely going to be over $300.

So... exactly what do you want to do then? You already have a 7950... unless you are playing games at the limit (1600P/multi-monitor/120hz), the other cards won't really do anything beyond the 7950. You can go Nvidia if you want to try out PhysX or lightboost but that's about it.

7950 looks good, or 660ti maybe. look on youtube for physx there should be some videos showing the difference.

Short answer... it's additional graphics effects in games that utilize it. It's not very special but it gives you something new to try if you're bored with your AMD card. Batman AA/AC, Borderlands 2, and Hawken are the few games I can remember that really use it...

i find it adds alot of extra eye candy to games that support it.
