Apparently there is some substance to the charges that Gray Davis abuses his staff. Consider this statement from William Bradley, a California-based, Democratic political analyst. The statement occurred in an online interview with the Washington Post on October 6, 2003:
Of course they do and they are clearly receiving a great deal of consideration. There is no question that Schwarzenegger has engaged in sexually obnoxious behavior. The question for voters, as it was with Bill Clinton, is do these concerns trump the overall. Incidentally, Governor Davis has been accused of abusive behavior toward women on his staff over the years, and there is something to those charges.

Concerning the L.A Times, consider also this quote from the transcript. Remember, Bradley is a Democrat:
From Tallahasse, Fla.: By breaking the story when it did it seems the LA times is doing more than just taking its traditional liberal slant, it is attempting to influence the elections. Do you agree with this? And will the credibility of the paper be diminished in the aftermath of this? If not, why?
William Bradley: The timing of the story may just be a coincidence, as the Times insists. They say the story ran when it was ready. Of course, you almost have to believe then that if the election occurred LAST Tuesday that the Times would have had no story.
It may be a coincidence. But many note that there has been a cascade of such coincidences with the Times coverage. I was amused to note that in the paper's coverage today, there was no mention of the huge Schwarzenegger rally yesterday at the State Capitol until the 18th paragraph of the story. The story then reported the crowd as being half the size it actually was -- there were 10,000 people there, much bigger than any Capitol rally in recent years -- and also reported that Schwarzenegger was nearly drowned out by protesters.
The truth is that I was on the risers with most of the press and I didn't hear the protesters. Schwarzenegger was never in any danger of being drowned out.
