It takes a long time for the GM scripts to kick in for me too.

Yeah, like the page will load but there's a 2-3 second lag for some reason.. oh well, price to pay to actually be able to use the forums.

I updated the cosmetic scripts to work in opera, but haven't been able to get the 'categories over buddies' or the alternating thread row colors scripts to work. I'll look into it and see if I can fix it.

For some reason I had to do a bit of a hack to get it to install, and I have to wait for the page to finish loading before it's applied, but it's an improvement

If anybody else has trouble, what I ended up doing was saving the .js file, clicking on the Greasemonkey icon, then Manage User Scripts, then I added the .js file. That didn't make it work, but it did allow me to install it from the link after I restarted. Weird.

Yea firefox has the same delay for me when loading gm scripts, hopefully these are only needed temporarily though. Opera tends to be a bit faster for me and not show the transition

I only have a fractional delay (less than 0.5s) while the page rejigs itself into the CORRECT layout I had some fun getting GM to recognise I wanted to install the scripts. My 'foolproof' method was to have AT open, then drag the scripts in one at a time.

I'm gonna try the grey colour scheme now :thumbsup:

Woot, this is MUCH better, almost surprisingly so for such a minor change. I also installed the "Shrink navigation pane and icons" and "Prettier Kill truncation". The end result of installing these 3 scripts GREATLY improves the forum.

As others have said, the delay for the GM scripts to load sucks, it's about 2 seconds for me, which doesn't sound to bad, but this happens with every page load. Also, the shrinkage of the navigation pane works great, but I see no difference in the icons and headers. I loaded up an identical page in IE and compared, they look to be the same size for me.

Despite my beef above, great job with these scripts. The three I have installed should be this way by default, it's sad that a user had to write scripts to "fix" the things AT dropped the ball on.

Also as far as opera goes, if you name the scripts with .user.js extensions in the scripts directory, all of them should work.

I added a couple more scripts:
Remove rating stars in thread list
Remove rated icon to the left of thread titles
Create a column for percentage of replies to views in thread list - Cristatus requested this the other day and I already had the code in place with another script

One of the things I did to reduce the load time was to reduce the number of threads displayed from 200 to 100 in my profile settings. Sped things up by a second or so.

By not allowed do you mean that you cannot install it?

Perhaps give Portable Firefox a try.

Kind of sad we had to resort to these measures but thanks for the scripts. I always love when companies decide to "upgrade" their software and don't bother to poll their users to find out what the important features are and let them do a Beta Test before actually going live. Makes so much sense...
