Either way it would be hard to call it AI. AI is artificial, transferring a human brain from meat to silicon is just that, a transfer. The only thing artificial is the hardware, the software is very much the same.

Artificial AI would be one that has no apparent resemblance to any existing creature. Making something like that from the ground up is unthinkably difficult, so this approach seems like the best one to take to achieve intelligence in a computer. I find it unlikely that we will enslave virtual humans and copy them into cars and dishwashers, this one will probably just be for study.

Your guess is as good as mine about the feature arrangement. It?s probably an approximation from scans.

Instantiating a once-biological mind into electronic form could be considered artificial. It would seem pretty alien if it could operate at a time signature of some multiple very different than standard 1x (in either direction).

I wonder how unpleasant an experience it would be for a human mind to emerge in a machine without accounting for sensory inputs. A bit like waking up unable to breathe. Human intelligence is surely a messy kind of intelligence because of the physical form it grew from.

At any rate, the goal is to improve the human civilization's level of intelligence and go from there. I look forward to a time when our hunter-gatherer tendencies (aggressiveness, tribalism, superstition, etc ad nauseam) are just a memory.
