It's a little faster than a 8500LE for most things, depending on which version of the 8500LE you have.

seriously take a chill pill daveybrat. Those deals are not really "hot deal". With shipping tacked in, it's $98 via cheapest Ground. For $100, you might as well consider plop down $30-40 for a 9600XT and be better off. Also, you can easily get ATI 9100/9200 non-SE cards for around $50 range. Those comes close to the GF3 series in performance. So, sorry to break it to ya, but the deal isn't THAT great at all. Oh and BTW, Richardito was pretty "nice" to you already. If this thread was anyhwere else other than AT (i.e. FW), it would've been ripped to pieces with negative comments by now.

And if anyone's still thinks that FS/FT forum is not a viable option, think again, as the price for a ti4200 is around $50 range. That's 1/2 off of this "deal".

cbrsmurf, it's waste of time and money to switch from 8500le to GF3. GF3 has better performance in OpenGL (Doom 3), but 8500le has equal if not better performance at Direct X 8 games . However, because those two cards are pretty old relatively, their performance gap is very minute in today's standards, so I would say keep your 8500le and wait until you can jump to a $100-200 card category.

"For $100, you might as well consider plop down $30-40 for a 9600XT and be better off."
what if they don't have an extra 30 - 40 dollars to spend? not everybody is living in their momma's basement

"Also, you can easily get ATI 9100/9200 non-SE cards for around $50 range. Those comes close to the GF3 series in performance."
close is not the same as exactly. plus the dx9 performance (why is it named 9100/9200? ) IS NO BETTER WHATSOEVER in both sets of cards.

"So, sorry to break it to ya, but the deal isn't THAT great at all."
who says so? title says Great budget Gaming cards!"
it does not say which games it plays great (although i know they play gta series pretty nicely)

"Oh and BTW, Richardito was pretty "nice" to you already. If this thread was anyhwere else other than AT (i.e. FW), it would've been ripped to pieces with negative comments by now."
fw is full of efayers. they would buy a hot deal on snot if three people posted in a thread some auctiions showing buckets selling for a hundred dollars
they don't know a hot deal even if it jump and byte dem in debut

Yes, your optimistic outlook on life is quite encouraging.

I bought my GF3 Ti500 years ago for about $50

Ok, so show me a "brand new" card today for $50 dollars that equals the GF3 in perfomance?

Do you know the difference between people discussing a subject and a discussion? In a discussion the parties only think about 'winning' the discussion and do not open their ears and learn from each other. This is not a contest...

As far as a budget card goes, the Geforce4 is a good budget card.

As long as it's not the MX version of a Geforce4.

If these are new and have the warranty a new product would have, I would go for the new cards, over refurbished, or "used".

Be aware that the Geforce4 series is only DirectX 8.1 hardware however.

These ARE NOT hot deals, they're decent deals, but for cards soon to be lost in the abyss of too-expensive-for-2D-only but too-slow-for-modern-3D.

Newegg refurbed TI4200 are NOT usually $100, I've bought 3 for less than $60 each. As always, if you can't wait to buy and just jump on one, sure it may cost more, as with any refurbed video card.

There is little point buying a GF3 or 4 to play Doom3. Sure, you can tweak a LOT and degrade visual quality to get 40FPS at a decent resolution, but that's a better idea to squeeze a few more months out of your present card, not a GOAL for a card you don't even own yet!

HERE is another GF4 TI for $55.

Folks, ignoring the pros/cons of a GF3 or 4, these prices are pretty much what you'd expect from any vendor that lowers prices according to market value. Why isn't everyone selling at this price? Simply that when someone lowers their price, they sell out faster than everone else, so the majority having stock have the higher price till the NEXT few drop the price (and sell out too).

If you really want to pay $89, here's another one.
Edit: Granted, it's not the 4400, but in some cases I'd rather have a 4200, it's shorter length allows putting in a smaller portable case for lanpparties, and just about all of 'em o'c to around 4600 level unless you get a real dud.
